Cristian Fascelli is a producer and DJ whose approach to Electronic Music blends technical discipline with instinctive creativity. Rooted in Naples, his early exposure to club culture and influential European DJs set him on a path into both DJing and music production – a passion that continues to shape his sound and drive his evolution.

In this interview, we catch up with Cristian to explore his production process, studio workflow, and the ways he stays inspired as his musical journey moves forward.

Hey Cristian, great to have you with us! How are you?

I’m good, thank you!

Can you take us back to your early production days – what first sparked your interest in making music, and how did you get started?

It was back in 2010 when I started DJing – first, I saw the console at my brother’s 18th birthday, it was 2 CDJ Nexus that was then left in the garage at home, and that’s when I became curious about what it was.

My interest in making music started when I was very young and I attended the first local parties here in Naples. Thanks to the many European DJs who performed here in the city, I became really inspired!

What DAW do you use most often?

Usually, I work with Ableton because, for me, it’s very intuitive and a really nice software for instantly capturing thoughts in the moment – but I’ve also just started to explore Logic.

Your tracks are built around groove and powerful basslines – what’s the first element you typically start with when building a new production?

Yes, my tracks are, for sure, usually built around the groove and bassline. The first element tends to be the groove, I try to catch that, and then try to add the FX that blend all the elements of the music together.

How would you describe your typical studio workflow? Do you follow a set structure, or is each track approached differently?

My workflow depends on my mood that day. For the past few years, I’ve been using a studio in Napoli called Kokoro, which allows me the flexibility in my approach.

The structure I follow tends to be the same – with me first creating a strong groove and bassline and after, trying to add a vocal.

What are a few of your go-to plugins or effects that really define your sound?

The best plugins are from Native Instruments.

Sampling is such a big part of Electronic Music – what’s your philosophy on using samples, and how do you make them your own?

Usually, when I use samples, I always try to edit and use them as naturally as possible, as well as using different plugins to bring a lot of energy.

For me, samples are a good choice, especially when thinking about pop culture and what will resonate well across the scene.

When you’re working on a track, how do you decide when it’s finished and ready to release?

When I’m working on a track, I usually try to listen to it across different environments and when I feel it’s ready, I test it in clubs.

How do you keep yourself creatively inspired?

I keep inspired by being in nature, doing a lot of physical activity and trying to read a lot of books.

Looking ahead, how do you see your approach towards music production developing?

My production approach throughout my journey has been strong – already garnering feedback from top DJs, such Joseph Capriati, Marco Carola, and many more. The development of my current tracks is very much focused on keeping my sound evolving, sharing with the fans what sounds are currently shaping my style and inspiring me at the moment.
