Clubs in Ibiza Are Opening on October 8th – Things to know!

On October 8, clubs in Ibiza will be allowed to reopen according to an announcement made today by the Consell de Govern Balearics.

The announcement came today with the approval of COVID certificates to be used for entry into clubs, and mandatory mask-wearing on the dancefloors. Drinking will only be allowed while seated.

Clubs can open at 75% capacity from next Friday, October 8, with a curfew at 5:AM. While Ibiza’s nightlife won’t quite resemble pre-pandemic levels of hedonism and indulgence, Ocio de Ibiza agrees that it’s a step in the right direction.

The nightlife organisation added that they were “very happy” with the decision, but some clubs will need to decide “if they want to open or not” over the coming week.

Ocio de Ibiza’s Leisure Manager José Luis Benítez told Periódico de Ibiza, ”the responsibility we have from now on has been demonstrated. We are going to ask our partners and clients for more responsibility so that they do not take any step backwards.”

To prevent the further closure of nightlife, the organisation has backed the use of COVID certificates, which will be used to enter clubs and venues from next weekend. The return of Ibiza nightlife has been in talks for over a week.

Nightlife is currently open outdoors across the White Isle at a 50% capacity. On September 15, restrictions on night-time social gatherings were lifted to allow an unlimited amount of people to gather – also allowing groups of 8 to be seated indoors at bars and restaurants.

“The Balearic Islands are practically back to normal, with a very important flexibility of measures, but the distance between people and the use of a mask, as well as ventilation, is maintained,” said a government spokesperson after the announcement today.
