Chainsaw Man fans should pay attention to this year's Jump Festa.
According to Twitter account Manga Mogura RE, which has reliably reported anime and manga announcements in the past, Tatsuki Fujimoto will make a "big announcement" about the Chainsaw Man series during this year's Jump Festa event. Speculation has already begun about what this announcement could be, with the most common assumptions being that the announcement will be related to the upcoming anime adaptation of the series, or the possibility that Fujimoto will announce a premiere date for Part 2 of the manga. The manga concluded its first part in Dec. 2020, and while Fujimoto has confirmed the series will continue with a second part that will be published exclusively through Shueisha's online manga platform, Shonen Jump+, a release date for the next chapter in the series has never been announced.

Chainsaw Man is set in a world where humans live side-by-side with creatures known as devils, and tells the story of Denji, an uneducated, debt-ridden young man who meets a brutal end after he is betrayed by the yakuza. Denji is resurrected after making a pact with his pet devil, Pochita, which also gives him the power to transform into a human-devil hybrid that sprouts chainsaws from his arms and head. A hopeless simp, Denji is recruited by an attractive but cruel woman named Makima into becoming a Public Safety Devil Hunter, a public official who hunts devils for a living.
Since its premiere in 2018, the manga has become the most popular of Fujimoto works. Prior to Chainsaw Man's publication, Fujimoto was primarily known for the similarly critically acclaimed Fire Punch series. In the year since Chainsaw Man went on hiatus, Fujimoto published Look Back, a standalone manga story that received over a million views in a single day and was unanimously praised by critics. Fujimoto also took part in publisher Shueisha's Dragon Ball Super Cover Project, which asks other popular manga creators to redraw iconic manga covers from Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball in honor of the series' upcoming 40th anniversary. Fujimoto drew the manga's second cover in his style. He was the fourth manga artist to participate in the project, joining Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto, Bleach's Tite Kubo and Beezlebub creator Ryuhei Tamura.
Jump Festa kicks off on Dec. 18. The event will be held in-person at Chiba, Japan, but will also be livestreamed globally via the official Shonen Jump YouTube channel and website.
