WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man Chapter #91, by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Amanda Haley and Sabrina Heep, available to read in English from Viz Media.
Chainsaw Man's revival of the much-beloved Power is as exciting and heartwarming as it is tragic. After her violent death at the hands of Makima, Power makes a triumphant return in a way that only she can, albeit in a new form. Despite seemingly falling back into her intimidating fear of Makima, Power shines while risking her life to save Denji.
A portion of Power sleeps within Denji's subconscious as Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil's dog form, taps her awake with a major request. Confused, Power recognizes Pochita but wonders how they're talking if she's dead. Pochita clarifies that her current form is the small amount of her blood she had Denji consume once. He warns Power that, despite her abilities as the Blood Devil, she'll soon disappear. Thus, Pochita offers her the solution of eating him to revive as a Devil.
Power's New Form
With Denji's life on the line, Power accepts Pochita's offer without question, eager to have the chance to save her friend. As Makima prepares for her assumed victory over the Chainsaw Devil, Power appears through a spew of blood from Chainsaw Man's mouth. Tall, four-armed, and with a dog-like face, Power springs to action in her new form. She uses her powers as the Blood Devil to create various bladed weapons that sprout from within Makima and her entire crew.
While declaring herself "the strongest," Power unleashes a barrage of blood-blades -- her "Thousand Tera Blood Rain" -- that shower Makima in a storm of swords. With some clear spite in her words, and in the most Power of ways, she screams that Makima is trash as she continues her assault. Unfortunately, one of the several Devil's under Makima's control is the Zombie Devil, who she uses to resurrect her fallen squad and attack Power.
Power Gives Into Her Fear - But Not Really
The sway of the battle swings Makima's way as the Control Devil points at Power's arm and blows it clean off. While Power is clearly in pain, Makima demands an answer as to how she is alive after being killed. Instead of answering, Power proclaims, "this is mine" as she quickly grabs and scurries off with Chainsaw Man, only to have Makima shoot her with the exploding ability again.
Power has always had a deep fear of Makima, likely due to her prowess as the Control Devil. Even now, Makima's unsettlingly calm commands cut through Power like butter. Makima offers Power a chance to be her pet again if she hands over Chainsaw Man, immediately turning the worry in Power's eyes to excitement. Power does a complete 180, now claiming to have captured him for Makima in the first place.
Denji & Power's Brief Reunion
Power genuinely cares for Denji, and though she came back intending to save her friend, it's not surprising that she'd seem nervous when confronted by Makima. In the same way that Denji longs for meaningful connections, usually in his pursuits of Makima, Power strives to be praised. However, for the first time, Power defies Makima for Denji's sake.
Despite a seeming change of heart, Power rescues Denji by taking him and hiding in a dumpster. The two share an incredibly touching moment where Denji tries to claim he's already lived a good enough life to die, and without Power, it won't be the same. She reminds Denji that while Devils are reborn after they die, she won't be the same anymore. Still, Power gives Denji her blood, forming a contract, telling him to find the Blood Devil and turn them back into Power again.
Reminiscent of the beginning of the series when Pochita gave his heart save Denji -- dumpster and all -- Power's sacrifice solidifies the fact that not only are she and Denji the series' best duo but that Power is one of Chainsaw Man's greatest characters. As refreshing as it was to have Power back and just as bombastic as she's ever been, she's also given Denji something important to look for again.
