A teaser trailer is here for MAPPA's highly-anticipated adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's Shonen Jump hit Chainsaw Man.
Chainsaw Man is about Denji, a poor teenager who hunts devils for the yakuza to scrape by. To save his own life, he fuses with his devil dog Denji to become the half-devil Chainsaw Man and is subsequently recruited by the government's Public Safety Devil Hunters.
The manga stands out for its wild premise, stunning art and some of the most violent action ever published in the pages of Shonen Jump -- all qualities which the anime, directed by Ryu Nakamura, looks to replicate if the teaser trailer is any indication.
It is worth noting that, like the first teaser for MAPPA's Attack on Titan: The Final Season, this teaser trailer is pre-animated, meaning that the scenes on display were animated specifically for the trailer rather than cut together from completed shots from the series. However, the same animators who made this teaser are also working on the actual series.
The Chainsaw Man anime does not yet have a release date, though it's expected to premiere sometime this fall. Part 1 of the manga is available from Shonen Jump, with a second part in the works.
