WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Chapter #63 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, “Ask No Questions,” by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.
In the Boruto manga, Naruto's son is having a tough time trying to save Kawaki. He's desperately attempting to protect his stubborn adopted brother while Naruto and Sasuke are damaged from the Isshiki war, but Kawaki hastily ran off from the village into the Konoha forest to fight Code. It's the worst decision possible, prompting Boruto to hunt him down. But as he comes face-to-face with his deadliest enemy, Code turns out to be Boruto's biggest fanboy as well.
Code wants to take Kawaki back to Eida, who needs the teen as a soulmate. Ideally, Code would prefer to kill him, but Boruto intervenes before he can renege on the pact. The Hidden Leaf shinobi is ready for battle, although he argues with Kawaki for a bit over his rash attitude.
Boruto is angry as a battered Kawaki has endangered them all with his selfish tactics -- little does he know Kawaki wants to offer himself up as a bargain to Eida. Still, Boruto will have none of it and prepares to battle Code, only for Isshiki's successor to admit he reveres Boruto. The kid's naturally confused when he hears this, but Code admits he loves all Ōtsutsuki vessels. That is, apart from Kawaki, whom he was jealous of for being a perfect host to Isshiki.
In Boruto's case, Code is fawning over how Momoshiki is inside him, even suggesting he thinks of Boruto as totally Ōtsutsuki. Admittedly, Boruto's body is 80% in terms of alien DNA, but Code, a fanatic and Ōtsutsuki extremist, still thinks this makes Boruto pure.
In that sense, Boruto's a kindred spirit and soulmate, but Code quickly confesses this won't spare Naruto's son from death. He needs to offer Boruto to the Ten Tails so the God Tree can appear, gifting the chakra fruit to Code to upgrade and become the ultimate Ōtsutsuki. Still, he makes it clear: sacrificing Boruto will hurt him as it means he's killing one of the gods he was always meant to like and worship.
Boruto Chapter #63 ends on a sombre yet cult-like note as Code fights Boruto and forces Momoshiki to emerge. He seemingly wants to chat, possibly viewing this as the only person on his level (besides Isshiki).
Code is obsessed with the Ōtsutsuki, after all, so without his 'dad,' Momoshiki might be the closet thing he has to family, ergo why he'll want to discuss things before using Boruto as fodder. Boruto adds some nuance to Code, making him more intriguing, as this is now officially a holy war with Boruto being a necessary lamb to the slaughter.
