WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 196, "A Binding Force," now streaming on Crunchyroll.
One of the biggest draws of the Boruto anime is that we get to see a lot more of Team 7's training. Boruto's been leveling up with Naruto, while Mitsuki has also been improving in ways the manga never showed. Sarada has worked on her Sharingan with Sasuke, too, as they know the threat of Kara's looming close to Konoha. But now, she has even bigger plans to upgrade her Uchiha arsenal.
In Episode 196, Sarada watches Boruto and his dad spar in order to teach Kawaki what training really entails. It's about discipline, tolerance and production, and after the fight, Naruto makes it clear that when it comes to the Land of Fire, together they aspire and together they'll achieve. But what stands out most for Sarada isn't just the respect they show each other -- it's how powerful Boruto is with his Karma mark.
Kawaki activated the mark so Naruto could see his son's strengths amplified, which leaves Sarada in awe. Usually, she doesn't get jealous but as she walks home with Mitsuki, she says she feels inspired now to step it up past the Sharingan training. Though Mitsuki warns her that she shouldn't seek power and be envious of others, he knows her heart's in the right place.
At dinner, she tells Sasuke she wants to learn his lightning-style, the iconic move known as the Chidori. This lightning blade is a signature move created by Kakashi but no one does it better than his former student, Sasuke. Sasuke is skeptical about passing it on to his daughter, though, as he wants her to learn it for the right reasons. It's the code that he, Itachi and other clan members believed in once they were on the right side -- he doesn't want Sarada just catching up and raising her skillset to just show off.
But she's adamant she's ready, arguing that she needs it to become a better shinobi and protector of Konoha. He warns her it'll be more intense than the Sharingan practice, and he'll have to temper the technique as it drains a lot of chakra, but Sarada seems determined enough to muscle through anyway. She's been quite adept with her eyes thus far, after all. Even Sakura doesn't seem to mind, granting her approval as she wants Sarada to test her boundaries and go past her potential, which is something she did under Kakashi and Tsunade.
Sarada's parents know that if she masters this, alongside Boruto perfecting his Rasengan, they can truly become the next 'Dynamic Duo' of the Hidden Leaf. So, buoyed by her enthusiasm, Sasuke arranges for more sessions, leaving her excited to show her friends the next step in her evolution. This "lightning cutter" is well and truly a weapon of mass destruction.
