The following contains spoilers for Chapter 69 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, “Captives,” by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.
In the Boruto series, Team 7 has been quite the institution. It's carried through from the Naruto era, where Kakashi mentored the future Hokage along with Sasuke and Sakura. However, the current unit has evolved into a more fluid concept. Sure, it focuses on three main ninja -- Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki -- but it's also had revolving guests such as Shikadai join for road missions.
Even Kawaki has been part of the crew, honoring Naruto's dream of young shinobi squads being malleable and inclusive. Unfortunately, in Chapter 69 of Boruto, one Team 7 member has gotten tremendously jealous thanks to a major development between Boruto and Sasuke -- and it could sadly poison the roster, eroding their sense of unity and trust.
This is Sarada, who's gotten ticked off in the past when her dad trained Boruto instead of her. It did lead to him giving her private lessons to upgrade her Sharingan eye, but it seems that's not enough. In fact, Sarada is found complaining to Mitsuki here, because she thinks this is stymieing her development toward becoming Hokage.
Succeeding Naruto as Konoha's leader has always been her dream, after all, but acting out so petulantly reeks of immaturity. She should speak to her family on her aspirations for the Hidden Leaf and lay down how she'd like them to contribute. Granted, Sasuke has to accept some blame because he should acknowledge his girl's hopes, dreams and overall ambitions. Boruto does have Naruto to help him out, but still, Sarada ought to be a bit more accommodating this time around.
That's because Boruto just got killed and revived due to Kawaki trying to stop Momoshiki from coursing through his body. Thus, Sasuke visiting him doesn't even have to mean they're going to resume training. It could just be a courtesy check for the sake of hospitality, which is what Naruto does for other teens too. This is, unfortunately, Sarada at her most selfish, which doesn't bode well for when Team 7 reunites.
To make it more complicated, the spying on her dad aside, both she and Mitsuki seem to be crushing on Boruto. So apart from being professionally angry, should Boruto spark something with the snake ninja or a previous crush such as Sumire, Sarada may lash out in a personal way.
Ultimately this kind of jealousy isn't good, and it has invited darkness into shinobi souls in the past. Hopefully Sarada comes to her senses quickly, because Boruto would never hate on her like this, no matter the circumstances. The timing couldn't be worse because with Code attacking Konoha -- and Eida also in tow -- the Hidden Leaf needs everyone to be on the same page.
