A new trailer for the Black Clover movie has been released, offering the release window for the upcoming anime feature.
Very few details about the film have been revealed since it was announced back in March 2021; even its official title hasn't been confirmed yet. However, alongside teasing intense, fantastical action and featuring a heart-pounding musical score, the trailer reveals a premiere window of 2023.
The trailer isn't the first piece of promotional material for the upcoming anime film. Late last year, a key visual illustration of Yuno Grinberryall was shared on social media, showing the Magic Knight dressed in an elegant ensemble with the sun peaking over the distant horizon in the background.
Yūki Tabata first published the ongoing Black Clover manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in February 2015, and since then, he has produced 31 volumes worth of content. The story follows Asta, a young boy who seemingly lacks the ability to perform magic, but despite his supposed weakness, he strives to become the next Wizard King. As of January 2022, over 17 million copies of the Black Clover manga series have been sold around the world.
Animation studio Pierrot (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) adapted the story into an anime, which initially ran from October 2017 to March 2021. Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man) and Ayataka Tanemura (Devilman Crybaby) directed the series with Minako Seki (Kingdom) composing the music, Itsuko Takeda (Black Cat) designing the characters and Aiko Shinohara (Fairy Tail) handling the color design. Yuki Maeda (Your Lie in April) served as the art director and Hajime Takakuwa (Saiyuki Reload -ZEROIN-) was the sound director.
The cast for Black Clover featured several popular and experienced voice actors like Gakuto Kajiwara (Komi Can't Communicate) as Asta and Nobunaga Shimazaki (Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) as Yuno. Other members of the cast include Kana Yūki (My Senpai is Annoying), Asuka Nishi (The Devil is a Part-Timer!) and Daiki Hamano (The Case Study of Vanitas). It is currently unknown if any of these voice actors will reprise their roles in the Black Clover movie.
Funimation announced earlier this year that it will release a limited edition boxset of Black Clover Season 4 on May 17. The set will include Episodes 155-170 on six discs and a special booklet that contains interviews with the anime's cast and a wealth of artwork. Funimation is also releasing boxsets for SSSS.DYNAZENON and The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent throughout May.
While fans will have to wait longer to see the Black Clover movie, they can stream the anime series on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
