Beastars Debuts New Theme Song in Season 2 Trailer

The popular anime adaptation of Beastars is returning for its second season with a new theme song, bringing heightened conflict between its community of anthropomorphic carnivores and herbivores.

A teaser trailer for the second season, with the new theme song "Kaibutsu (Monster)" by Yoasobi, with the villainous red deer Louis still on the loose. After stoking tension between carnivores and herbivores, the anthropomorphic animals' fragile coexistence is threatened.

Beastars is based on the manga series created by Paru Itagaki in 2016, published by Weekly Shonen Jump before concluding with its final volume this past October. An anime adaptation produced by the animation studio Orange premiered last year in Japan before being released internationally outside of Japan by Netflix.

Since its premiere on Netflix this past March, Beastars has been one of the most popular anime series streamed by Netflix. A data report revealed Beastars was the most popular anime series in 35 different countries and Netflix's second-most popular anime series overall. While no Netflix premiere date has been announced for Season 2, the series will premiere on Japan's Fuji TV in January 2021.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Paru Itagaki, Beastars Season 1 is available to stream on Netflix. Season 2 premieres in Japan on Jan. 5, 2021, with an international release date currently unknown.
