Two months removed from releasing his Halo EP, Avoure continues paving the road to his debut album with “Always On My Mind.” Arriving as his latest single — following June’s two-sided EP — the track features unmistakable vocals of Gio Santi, whose name may be familiar through previous work alongside Maceo Plex.
Originally written and arranged in just 24 hours, “Always On My Mind” sat unreleased for more than a year. That changed when Avoure sent the idea to Santi, who transformed the idea entirely, layering his voice over a striking blend of melodic house that recalls the lush, emotional sound of Avoure’s 2018 breakout hit on This Never Happened, “Aura.” And the result nods to his roots while taking his evolving sound a step forward.
Avoure admits that he “honestly didn’t believe in it until [he] sent it to Gio Santi, and he came back with an incredibly enthusiastic response,” adding that “the first time [he] heard his vocal, [he] realized we might have created something truly special” and that he believes “this is one of a kind — the sort of work you can’t repeat twice. Moments like this are exactly why we make music.”
