WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 1, now streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
Now that Part 1 of Attack on Titan: The Final Season is over, there's a lot to digest. One major aspect of the season was the sheer amount of battles between the Shifter Titans, both amongst themselves and against humans. We also now know all of the Shifter Titans, having been introduced to the War Hammer Titan in the early episodes of Season 4. Now that we've seen them all in battle, let's take a closer look at the Shifter Titans and rank them based on their most current wins and losses.
8. The Female Titan - Annie Leonhart
As of the end of Season 4, Annie is still crystallized and out of action. The latest that we've seen of her she was in the company of Armin as he vents about what happened over the past five years. While the Female Titan is versatile, speedy and has armor abilities similar to the Armored Titan, she is no match compared to the other Shifter Titans that are in play now, like the War Hammer Titan and the Colossal Titan. Maybe in Part 2 of the final season we'll see Annie emerge and play a role, but for now, she is out for the count.
7. The Cart Titan - Pieck Finger
Right from the onset of Season 4, we see the new version of the Cart Titan, now held by Pieck Finger. Shown against the might of the Mid-East Allied Forces, it's an effective weapon that can both crush people beneath it as it runs and carry another, more powerful weapon upon its back. But during the Raid on Liberio sometime later, we see how effective the Scouts' Thunder Spears are against it, bringing its holder close to death. While the Cart Titan is a great Titan to have around in battle, it's ultimately more effective against individual humans rather than other Shifter Titans.
6. The Beast Titan - Zeke Yeager
Zeke Yeager's Beast Titan has certainly fallen from its pedestal of power back in Season 3. After Levi took the Beast Titan down the first time, the strategy became clear to the other Scouts and he became less of a threat. During the first battle of Season 4, Marley versus the Mid-East Allied Forces, we see the Beast Titan simply throwing rocks and utterly destroying an entire naval fleet.
But during the Raid on Liberio, though the warrior candidates of Marley were very anxious for him to defend them from the devils of Paradis, Zeke's Beast Titan is quickly and efficiently taken down. Levi implements the Thunder Spears and quickly steals Zeke away from the Beast Titan's nape. So while the Beast Titan is strong, it's no longer a match for the humans around him, let alone the other Shifter Titans.
5. The Jaw Titan - Porco Galliard
Arguably the most lethal of the Shifter Titans, the Jaw Titan certainly made a name for itself in Season 4. Starting with the Mid-East Allies battle, the Porco's Jaw Titan proved even more fearsome than the previous version held by Ymir. It's incredibly fast, with both sharp jaws and claws. It even has armor on its face now, which helps protect it. Unfortunately, the Raid on Liberio proved that, while the Jaw Titan is incredibly strong and a worthy foe, it is no match to Eren as the Attack Titan. Eren rips Porco apart, literally, and uses its jaw to claim the War Hammer Titan for himself.
But we haven't seen the last of Porco's Jaw Titan. In the final scene of the last episode, Porco surprise attacks Eren from beneath, having snuck back into Paradis with Pieck. That's where the finale left off, so we'll have to wait until Part 2 to fully see the extent of that battle. But, needless to say, the Jaw Titan is still a powerful Shifter Titan, even until the final seasons.
4. The Colossal Titan - Armin Arlert
The Colossal Titan is still a powerhouse, just by natural ability. It towers over even the tallest of the other Shifter Titans, and its burning steam makes it hard for anything to safely get close. The only time we really see the Colossal Titan in action in Season 4 is against humans, not other Shifter Titans. Perhaps this is due to the new wielder as well -- Armin is not a violent person by nature, so attacking other people (or Titans) doesn't come naturally to him.
During the Raid on Liberio, Armin transforms in the middle of the docks, destroying them and the nearby dwellings, killing countless innocent people. The only other time we see the Colossal Titan is in a flashback to before the people of Paradis were cooperating with the volunteers from Marley, showing the Titan beaching their ships. Even when he was using the Titan, Armin still tried not to use its full power, as he knows how devastating it can be.
3. The Armored Titan - Reiner Braun
While the Armored Titan doesn't make too many in-battle appearances in Season 4, it's still Eren's biggest enemy and physical foe. During the Mid-East Allied Forces battle, we see Reiner's Armored Titan absolutely destroy the wall and, one after another, destroy the cannons that pose a threat to his fellow Titans. After this battle, Reiner takes time to think about his future and his past, contemplating the morality of his own decisions.
When we see him in the finale of Part 1, about to transform and battle Eren, it's clear that he's gone through an attitude adjustment of some kind. He looks more resolved. So while the Armored Titan is naturally the powerhouse of the Titans, it looks like Reiner may have more motivation to use it to its fullest. Especially since the Armored Titan is Eren's weak spot.
2. The War Hammer Titan - Eren Yeager
Even though Eren is the current holder of the War Hammer Titan, we haven't seen him put it to use yet. During the brief battle during the Raid on Liberio, the previous holder of the War Hammer Titan, Lara Tybur, wielded it against Eren's Attack Titan. We quickly see how versatile and powerful this Shifter Titan is, being able to create anything out of itself, including weapons. While we can't yet attest to how Eren will use it, we know that it is one of the most powerful Shifter Titans, and, in the hands of Eren, it could be capable of anything.
1. The Attack Titan - Eren Yeager
Though the Attack Titan may technically not be the most powerful Shifter Titan, in the hands of Eren Yeager it has become an overpowered monster. Now, in combination with the War Hammer Titan's abilities and the Attack Titan's need to constantly charge forward, Eren holds all the cards. Especially since he also has the Founding Titan as well --the most powerful Shifter Titan of all. During the Raid on Liberio, Eren showcases the Attack Titan's full ability, even narrowly escaping from Lara's War Hammer Titan. It's incredibly powerful, and with Eren wielding it, the Attack Titan is the Shifter Titan to fear in Part 2 of the final season.
