Funimation confirmed that Sunrise Beyond's all-new, original mecha anime AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline will premiere as part of the streaming service's upcoming anime season.
A new trailer provides a first look at the series' characters and unique mechas, and asks viewers to "take on this future." AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline is the first original project from Sunrise Beyond, which is renowned for its work on the iconic Gundam franchise. Nobuyoshi Habara (Leina: Wolf Sword Legend) is directing the anime with Noboru Kimura (Zoids: Fuzors) writing the script and Rasmus Faber (Moriarty the Patriot) composing the music.
The anime follows protagonist Shiiba Amou, an "antisocial" kid who loves machines. When he encounters an A.I. named I-Les Gai, Amou becomes entangled in a battle to take back Japan from an oppressive governing body. The cast includes several experienced voice actors like Gen Satō (Gundam Build Divers), Yūto Uemura (Build Divide -#00000 (Code Black)-, My Hero Academia) and Kana Ichinose (Dr. Stone, Fairy Gone).
AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline is one of several new anime series that will debut as part of Funimation's fall 2021 lineup. Other shows that will premiere include Selection Project, Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut, Ranking of Kings, My Senpai is Annoying and PuraOre! Pride of Orange.
Funimation will stream AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline as the series airs in Japan beginning on Oct. 5.
