A new teaser trailer provides viewers a sneak peek of the brutal action that Rust-Eater Bisco's "Tetsujin arc" has in store.
Featuring an intense musical score that will surely get fans' hearts pounding, the trailer showcases several of the anime's main characters, including the terrifying Captain of the Imihama Watch Pawoo Nekoyanagi, battle-worn but still ready to throw down against anyone or anything that stands in their way. It ends with Milo Nekoyanagi staring down the giant Tetsujin and preparing to shoot an arrow, likely fueled by the emotional death of an unexpected Rust-Eater Bisco character in Episode 9, "I Love You."
The ongoing Rust-Eater Bisco light novel series by Shinji Cobkubo, mocha and K Akagashi was first published in March 2018, and since then, it has produced eight volumes worth of content. The series is licensed by Yen Press for North American distribution, and as of October 2021, over 300,000 copies of the light novels are in circulation worldwide. A manga adaptation by Rokudo Takahashi was serialized in Square Enix's online manga magazine Manga UP! from April 2019 to March 2021.
Rust-Eater Disco is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan that has been ravaged by a deadly rust-like plague. The story follows the titular Bisco Akaboshi, a Mushroom Keeper and wanted criminal, and Milo, a young doctor, as they travel across the wastelands in search of a legendary mushroom that is said to be able to devour all forms of rust.
The anime adaptation was announced in March of last year and the first episode, "The Man Worth 800,000," premiered earlier this year in January. It is directed by Atsushi Ikariya (Fate/Zero) with Sadayuki Murai (Knights of Sidonia) overseeing the series composition, Emi Chiba (God Eater) handling the color design and Kisuke Koizumi (Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense) directing the sound.
Rust-Eater Bisco's cast includes several experienced and popular voice actors. In the original Japanese version, Ryōta Suzuki (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) stars as Bisco, Natsuki Hanae (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma) as Milo, Reina Kondo (Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of the Underworld) as Pawoo and Kenjiro Tsuda (The God of High School) as antagonist Kurokawa. Kyle Igneczi (Black Clover) voices Bisco in the English dub alongside Brandon McInnis (Dr. Stone) as Milo, Anastasia Munoz (Fairy Tail) as Pawoo and Josh Putnam (Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious) as Kurokawa.
