Kaguya-sama: Love Is War unveils the premiere date of its third season, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic-, in an all-new teaser trailer, almost two years after the broadcast of the romantic-comedy's second season.
The new trailer provides fans with an exclusive look into the upcoming season. Opening with a series of deceptively peaceful clips amid soft melody, the music of the trailer soon devolves into a fast-paced beat as flashes of Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya's ongoing battle to make the other confess play across the screen. Other popular characters from the anime series are also featured, such as self-proclaimed "love detective" Chika Fujiwara and the gloomy and brooding Yuu Ishigami. The trailer ends with the reveal that Season 3 of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War will begin airing on April 8 in Japan.
Aka Akasaka's Kaguya-sama: Love Is War follows Shuchiin Academy's student council president, Miyuki Shirogane, and his vice president, Kaguya Shinomiya. On paper, they seem like they would be the perfect couple, given Kaguya's wealthy and prestigious background and Miyuki's status as the highest-scoring student in Japan. However, while the two have indeed developed feelings for each other, they both share a common vice -- pride. What follows is a war of love as the two concoct increasingly convoluted and hilarious schemes to try and make the other reveal their feelings in a bid to retain their so-called "honor."
With over 15 million copies of the manga in circulation as of April 2021, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War has enjoyed a great deal of success since it began serialization in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015. Its popularity skyrocketed with the premiere of the first season of its anime adaptation produced by A-1 Pictures, which ran for a total of 12 episodes in 2019. Set during the second term of Miyuki and Kaguya's school year, the anime's second season, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War?, was equally as popular, as it depicted the 67th student council's efforts to win the upcoming election in the midst of the main couple's battle of the hearts.
Fans of the anime can enjoy the highly-anticipated third season with the return of voice actors such as Makoto Furukawa (One-Punch Man) as Miyuki, Aoi Koga (Komi Can't Communicate) as Kaguya, Konomi Kohara (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Chika and Ryouta Suzuki (Tsurune) as Yuu. Shinichi Omata of Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju fame also returned to direct the new season.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation. Season 3 of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War will debut in Japan April 8.
