Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Announces Season 2

The second season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation has officially been announced.

According to a post on the anime's official Twitter, the production on Season 2 of the show is already underway. The news was further confirmed during a special preview screening of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation's upcoming OVA that focuses on noble heiress Eris Broeas Greyrat. More details about the new season, including premiere date and staff, will be revealed at a later time.

The Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation isekai light novel series by Rifujin na Magonote ran from November 2012 to April 2015, producing 25 volumes worth of content. The story sees a jobless, homeless man sacrifice himself to save a group of teenagers from a speeding truck. Upon his death, he reincarnates in a sword and sorcery fantasy world and endeavors to make the best of his second chance at life. As of February 2022, over 10 million copies of the light novels have been sold worldwide.

The first season of the anime adaptation by Studio Bind was split into two parts upon its release, with its first 11 episodes airing between Jan. 11 and March 22, 2021, while the second half concluded in December 2021. It was directed by Manabu Okamoto (Akame ga Kill!) with Kazutaka Sugiyama (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) designing the characters, Makiko Doi (Lupin the Third: Jigen's Gravestone) handling the color design and Shinji Tonsho (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) serving as the director of photography.

The first season's voice cast featured several popular and experienced voice actors, including Yumi Uchiyama (Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia), Tomokazu Sugita (Attack on Titan), Ai Kakuma (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma), Ai Kayano (The Case Study of Vanitas) and Daisuke Namikawa (Lupin the Third: Part 5). At the time of writing, it is unclear if the same cast and creative team will be involved with the new season.

While isekai fans will have to wait longer to see more episodes of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, several other isekai series have fast-approaching premiere dates; for example, the new anime by veteran director Katsumi Ono, Skeleton Knight in Another World, is set to make its debut in Japan on April 7 and Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs. Moreover, the second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero is also expected to be released sometime in April.

The first season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is currently available to stream on Funimation, Crunchyroll and Hulu.
