From Dragon Ball Super to Morbius, Here Are This Week’s Best Trailers

As March 2022 begins, spring is rapidly looming with a growing number of blockbuster movies and television premieres to kick off the warmer weather. From dueling wizards and vampiric antiheroes, audiences will have plenty to warm up to as winter finally begins to subside. Also, in a surprise coincide, two completely unrelated films both titled Bubble are coming to Netflix this April, with both projects somehow releasing trailers within days of each other. And in the wake of Funimation and Crunchyroll merging, there is a whole wave of new anime set to roll out over the course of the year.

Here are this week's biggest and best trailers, teasers and promos for film, television and video games, from big-budget tentpole movies to cheeky comedies set to thrill audiences in the weeks and months to come.

Amityville in Space

The most infamous haunted house story in North America is the Amityville Horror but the quaint New England home is about to go where no haunted house has gone before in the upcoming horror movie Amityville in Space. The unabashed B-movie has the murder house sucked into a singularity, with the only way to save the cosmos from the house's sinister influence to destroy the black hole that has absorbed its evil energy.

Directed by Mark Polonia, Amityville in Space will be released this summer.

Bubble

Many of the anime medium's most celebrated creators are coming together for the upcoming film Bubble, boasting a gorgeous animation style that presents a colorful, post-apocalyptic vision of Tokyo. After the Japanese city is flooded by strange bubbles that alter the law of physics throughout the metropolis, Tokyo becomes a battleground between rival gangs seeking to seize control after most of civilization flees from the once bustling city.

Directed by Tetsuro Araki, Bubble premieres April 28 on Netflix.

The Bubble

Acclaimed filmmaker Judd Apatow skewers the current state of the movie business with his latest comedy The Bubble. Following a group of actors attempting to make an action film in the middle of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, living together in a bubble to mitigate the risk of contracting and spreading the deadly virus. Featuring an all-star cast, the actors must contend with the unusual challenges to make a movie under such conditions as hilarity ensues.

Produced, directed and co-written by Judd Apatow, The Bubble premieres April 1 on Netflix.

Bullet Train

Brad Pitt is teaming up with John Wick filmmaker David Leitch to craft a new lethal assassin film with this summer's Bullet Train. Pitt stars as a contract killer codenamed Ladybug, competing with a group of rival assassins to carry out his latest assignment. As Ladybug tries his best to avoid killing anyone but his target, he finds himself on a Japanese bullet train with his assembled competition.

Directed by David Leitch, Bullet Train opens in theaters July 15.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

One of the most eagerly anticipated anime films of the year is Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, continuing the perennially popular Dragon Ball franchise with a new canonical adventure. The latest trailer revealed the most details surrounding the movie yet, from Gohan taking center stage after his daughter Pan is kidnapped by the Red Ribbon Army to Piccolo unveiling a new combat transformation as he leaps back into action.

Directed by Tetsuro Kodama, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero opens April 22 in Japan, with a North American release planned for this summer.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

After four years, audiences are invited to dive back into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the latest prequel film Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. A new trailer reveals the delicate peace between wizards and Muggles under threat as Gellert Grindelwald rallies his forces for an all-out war, leading Albus Dumbledore to turn to Newt Scamander and his friends for help in bringing the dark wizards to justice before the situation escalates further.

Directed by David Yates, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore opens in theaters April 15.

Fullmetal Alchemist

The live-action adaptation of the hit manga/anime series Fullmetal Alchemist comes to an end this summer with the two-part conclusion Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Chapter - The Avenger Scar and The Last Transmutation. Serving as a sequel to 2017's live-action film adapting the manga series' first four volumes, the finale has alchemist brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric hunting the vicious serial killer Scar.

Directed by Fumihiko Sori, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Chapter - The Avenger Scar opens May 20 in Japan and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Chapter - The Last Transmutation opens June 24 in Japan.

The Guardians of Justice

After serving as the showrunner on the Castlevania anime series, filmmaker Adi Shankar returns as the creator of Netflix's latest original animated series The Guardians of Justice. The seven-episode series has a troubled team of superheroes confront a cosmic supervillain that tests them for the fate of the universe while the ensemble confronts their own inner demons and hang-ups.

iCarly

Fresh off of a recurring role on How I Met Your Father, actor Josh Peck is coming to iCarly Season 2 for a Nickelodeon reunion of sorts. As Carly Shay continues her web series, Peck joins the show as a vocal critic to mix things up on the upcoming season. After running for six seasons from 2007 to 2012, iCarly returned with much of its main cast for a revival series on Paramount+ in 2021.

Created by Dan Schneider, iCarly Season 2 premieres April 8 on Paramount+.

Morbius

After numerous delays, Morbius is finally set to sink his fangs into theaters this April. The vampiric antihero unleashes his full potential in a final trailer that sees scientist Michael Morbius transforming into a bloodthirsty creature of the night while searching for a cure to his rare genetic condition. As Morbius struggles with his new, nocturnal nature, he receives advice from Adrian Toomes to embrace his true self amidst all the dazzling action set pieces.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Morbius opens in theaters April 1.

Mushoku Tensei

The anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is getting a spinoff OVA set to be included with the Japanese home video release of Season 1's fourth volume. This spinoff episode is set concurrently with the first season's 16th episode, following heiress Eris Boreas Greyrat and reveals what she was up to while series protagonist Rudeus Greyrat was reuniting with his father Paul.

Directed by Manabu Okamoto, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

The next generation of Pokémon is coming to the Nintendo Switch this year with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet unveiling its announcement trailer. Taking cues from the open-world gameplay and design of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the trailer showcases the ninth generation's starter Pokémon as players explore a region inspired by Spain as the video game franchise continues to thrive after over 20 years.

Developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet launches for the Nintendo Switch in late 2022.

Shaman King

The finale to the Shaman King anime reboot series is coming to an end, with a new teaser providing a first look at the climactic showdown between Yoh Asakura and his brother Hao. Based on the manga series by Hiroyuki Takei, the story was previously adapted in 2001 before being rebooted as a new series 20 years later. The series follows Yoh as he strives to become the eponymous Shaman King through a high stakes tournament, with epic magical duels.

Directed by Joji Furuta, the first three seasons of Shaman King are currently available to stream on Netflix.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Following two successful seasons, the manga/anime property That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is getting an anime continuation film this November with That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds. Protagonist Rimuru Tempest and his friends travel to the Kingdom of Razha where they encounter a swordsman named Hiro who is out for revenge against an ogre samurai.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds premieres November 2022, with the first two seasons of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Tsurune The Movie

The sports anime series Tsurune is getting an anime film this August, with Tsurune The Movie: The Starting Shot, bringing the main cast of the acclaimed series back together for a feature-length adventure. High schooler Minato Narumiya continues to follow his lifelong passion in archery, honing his craft in the classic Japanese kyudo style at their hidden range in the forest.

Directed and co-written by Takuya Yamamura, Tsurune The Movie: The Starting Shot opens Aug. 19 in Japan. The anime series is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
