A manga adaptation of the mobile game KonoSuba: Fantastic Days has been announced and is expected to be released in April.
According to Anime News Network, the game’s manga adaptation was announced in the most recent issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine. It is slated for release in April as part of the magazine’s May issue. Konosuba: Fantastic Days is a mobile game based on the light novel series KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! developed by Nexon. The game was released in early 2020 exclusively in Japan. After more than a year, it was finally launched globally in August 2021. The game lets players form parties of familiar characters and battle their way through a fully voiced original story that takes place after the events of the anime’s second season.
Konosuba: Fantastic Days has also inspired a novel adaptation. Instead of being written by series creator Natsume Akatsuki, the novel was penned by Hirukuma, the author of the light novel Reborn as a Vending Machine and I Now Wander the Dungeon. The novelization featured illustrations by the same artist who illustrated the original series, Kurone Mishima. The Konosuba: Fantastic Days novel was released in Japan earlier this week.
KonoSuba was originally published as a light novel by Kadokawa’s Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint in 2013. A portion of the original story was adapted into two seasons of anime. The first season aired in 2016, the second season aired in 2017. A film adaption titled KonoSuba: Legend of Crimson, also based on the light novels, was released in Japan in August 2019 and received limited event screenings in the United States later that year. All anime adaptations, including the film, are currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
KonoSuba follows Kazuma, a shut-in student who dies of shock after mistaking a tractor for a runaway truck. Offered the chance to reincarnate in a fantasy world, Kazuma forces the goddess Aqua to come along as his companion. The pair eventually form an adventuring party with the wizard Megumin and crusader Darkness. As the party struggles to afford food and shelter, each party member proves themselves to be hilariously inept.
KonoSuba’s original light novel series ended in 2020 with the release of its seventeenth volume. A new anime, which will continue the story after the events of the Legend of Crimson movie, was announced in 2021. It has not yet received a release date. The Konosuba: Fantastic Days manga adaption has no immediate plans for an English translation.
