A new movie poster for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero has been unveiled.
The poster depicts Gohan, wearing his Piccolo-inspired white cape and purple gi, fighting back-to-back with the Namekian warrior himself, who appears to have a new transformation in the movie. The two fighters fly above a city as they do battle with the Gamma 1 and 2, who are the latest androids to be built by Goku's long-standing enemies, the Red Ribbon Army. The poster was released to promote the movie's upcoming Japanese premiere on April 22.
A new trailer was released for the movie as well, which shows brief glimpses of Broly, Beerus and Piccolo's new form. The trailer also offers a few hints about the movie's story, as it reveals that Pan, Gohan and Videl's daughter, has been kidnapped by the Red Ribbon Army. The new preview is the third full-length trailer for the film. The first trailer was unveiled last fall, which introduced the new members of the Red Ribbon Army. A second preview was revealed at the most recent Jump Festa convention and concentrated heavily on Gohan's battle with Gamma 1 and 2.
Super Hero is set several years after the events of the previous Dragon Ball movie, Broly, so consequentially a number of characters, including Goten and Trunks, have been aged up and given new redesigns. Pan is now old enough to be attending elementary school, and she has just begun receiving martial arts training from Piccolo, just like her father did all those years ago. Producer Akio Iyoku has stated that the new movie will concentrate heavily on the "master-disciple relationship" between Piccolo and Gohan.
Iyoku also teased that there will be more animated entries in the franchise to look forward to in 2022 besides the new movie. While the producer has yet to drop any additional details about what he meant with that statement, many fans are hoping that Iyoku was teasing a new season of the Dragon Ball Super TV anime, which originally concluded in 2018. The DBS manga has since completed a full story arc and is nearing the climax of its current Granolah the Survivor saga, which means there is plenty of content available for a potential new season of the series.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will be released in North America this summer.
