Good Smile Company opened preorders for its upcoming Nendoroid figure of Tengen Uzui from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Standing at around 3.94 inches tall, owners of Good Smile Company's all-new Nendoroid will be able to recreate Tengen's iconic scenes from the anime and manga series using the interchangeable effect parts included with the figure. The set comes with three different face plates, allowing fans to make the Sound Hashira don a standard, cheerful or serious look. Tengen's standing lower half can also be switched out so he's crouching instead. The Nendoroid includes a number of other accessories as well, such as Tengen's iconic Nichirin Cleavers, which can be mounted to his back or placed in his hands.
Good Smile Company's Nendoroid figure line is arguably its most famous series of statues. The iconic chibi style of the figures is a huge draw for fans and collectors alike, and they've been praised for the different poses and looks the figures can adopt through their interchangeable parts. Tengen is the latest Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Nendoroid to join the lineup, with Nendoroids of main characters Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Inosuke Hashibira and Zenitsu Agatsuma all released in 2021.
Set in a Taisho-era Japan where deadly former humans known as "demons" run rampant, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba tells the story of a teenage boy named Tanjiro Kamado whose life is turned upside down when one of the creatures slaughters his entire family. His younger sister, Nezuko, is strangely spared from the demon's massacre as she is transformed into a demon herself and thus obtains supernatural powers such as super strength and regeneration. Tanjiro enlists in the Demon Slayer Survey Corps, a group of warriors determined to eliminate all demons, hoping to find a way to regain his sister's humanity and to track down the demon responsible for his family's deaths.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba enjoyed success when its manga began its serialization in February 2016, but its popularity skyrocketed when the first season of its anime adaptation aired in 2019. Season 1's direct sequel film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, was also the highest-grossing movie of 2020, making it the most successful anime and Japanese film of all time. Soon after the last episode of Season 2 aired in Japan, anime studio Ufotable announced it will produce a third season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, which will adapt the manga's "Swordsmith Village" arc for television. No release date has yet been announced, however.
The Tengen Uzui Nendoroid is available for preorder now from Good Smile Company's online store for $64.99 USD, as well as other specialty toy and figure retailers. It is set to be released in January 2023.
