The English dub of Lupin the Third Part 5 (also known as Lupin the 3rd Part V: Misadventures in France) is heading to HIDIVE.
According to Sentai Filmworks' streaming service, all 24 episodes of the sixth anime adaptation of Monkey Punch's classic manga series, will be available to watch in the United States, Latin America and Canada starting March 1. The English dubbed and subtitled versions of the Lupin the Third Part 5 OVA will be released as well.
The original Lupin III manga began its serialization in Weekly Manga Action in August 1967 and the first anime adaptation, Lupin the Third Part 1, by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata premiered in October 1974. Directed by Yūichirō Yano and Daisuke Sakō, Lupin the Third Part 5 aired in Japan from April to September 2018; the English dubbed version debuted on Adult Swin's Toonami programming block in June 2019. The first arc of Part 5 follows renowned thief Arsène Lupin III as he and his team attempt to steal digital currency from Marco Polo, a website on the dark web that sells contraband, including weapons and drugs.
The dub's cast includes several popular and experienced voice actors like Doug Erholtz (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Inspector Koichi Zenigata, Lex Lang (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) as Goemon Ishikawa, Michelle Ruff (The Promised Neverland) as Fujiko Mine, Richard Epcar (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable) as Daisuke Jigen and Tony Oliver (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works) as the titular thief.
HIDIVE releasing the English dub of Lupin the Third Part 5 isn't the only recent development in the long-running franchise to the delight of fans. Lupin III: Prison of the Past, the 27th television special, which sees Lupin and his team try to rescue a famous criminal from the Kingdom of Dorrente's prison, premiered in the United States at Anime NYC last year.
The latest anime series in the franchise, Lupin the Third Part 6, which features Lupin facing off against Sherlock Holmes himself, made its debut in October 2021. The premiere episode, "Episode o," tells a standalone story about Jigen and serves as the final performance of voice actor Kiyoshi Kobayashi. The anime industry-veteran first played the character in Lupin the Third's initial pilot film back in 1969, making him the longest-serving member of the franchise's cast. Akio Ōtsuka, the actor behind Metal Gear's Solid Snake, plays Jigen throughout the rest of the series.
Alongside Lupin the Third Part 5, Lupin the Third Part 1 and Lupin the Third Part 6 are also available on HIDIVE.
