Warning: The following contains spoilers for Doron Dororon Chapter 11, "Superhero," by Gen Oosuka, Camellia Nieh, and Phil Christie, available in English at Viz and Manga Plus.
Even though Doron Dororon's main characters have an indomitable will to help others, they face the same problem as most manga characters with monster powers. Despite being a feared and hated Mononoke, Kusanagi faces his own kin in order to save and protect humans. Dora shares the Mononoke's sentiments and partners up with it to slay what they refer to as evil Mononoke. Kusanagi's shapeshifting ability supplements Dora's lack of supernatural energy, while Dora provides the muscle to the otherwise immobile sentient weapon.
The duo has been managing to slip under the Samurai's nose by quickly finishing their extermination. Ginchiyo was the first to discover about their deeds and ability, but she decided to take them in rather than turn them in. She also fought alongside them, with Dora and Kusanagi acting as her support. However, it was short-lived as the Hanya Gyuuki -- the Mononoke responsible for the death of Dora's mother -- resurfaced. The duo made a big contribution to its defeat, but they were finally exposed during the process.
After the devastating fight against the Hanya Gyuuki, the duo and the other Samurai were taken to the Izanagi force headquarters. Dora was asleep for five days, and he woke up just as his Mononoke partner was being interrogated by the higher-ups. Heisuke Ujii, the Samurai who kept the humanoid Mononoke at bay, was defending Kusanagi against the higher-ups' inquisition. He also pushed the notion of Kusanagi's lack of aggressiveness and possible aid to the fight against the Mononoke. While Ujii was making his point, Dora burst into the room.
After checking his partner's welfare, Dora faced the elders. Dora claimed to have lied when Ujii introduced him as the person who defeated Hanya Gyuuki by collaborating with a Mononoke. He even hyped Kusanagi by saying the latter defeated numerous Mononoke and saved lots of humans, therefore making it a superhero Mononoke. However, Kusanagi was quick to refute and clarified that the feats were only possible with Dora's help, thus making the human the true superhero. The two continued to quibble, which Ginchiyo's grandfather surprisingly found amusing. Ultimately, the duo was given a grace period to prove their worth.
Now that the duo is out of the woods, they no longer have to hide their existence. But the greater benefit they might receive from this event is the possibility of receiving proper training. Dora clearly has a knack for fighting, and his affinity with Kusanagi is undeniable as well. However, their current fighting style runs on pure battle instinct. Although it's effective against lower-level Mononoke, it's proven useless against the humanoid Mononoke. The humanoid Mononoke Ujii fought was shown communicating with others, clearly indicating that there are more of its kind. The duo will be needing to power up if they want to stand against them.
Dora and Kusanagi have been operating under the radar because of Kusanagi's identity. But with the recent developments, the duo can finally work in the open. They may even receive proper tutelage that will allow them to fight against stronger opponents Doron Dororon has to offer.
