Ranking of Kings: Desha Reveals the One Person He Wants to Kill

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Ranking of Kings Episode 15, "The Order of the Underworld," now streaming on Funimation and Crunchyroll.

Ranking of Kings Episode 15 sends two separate teams down to the Underworld. Bojji, Kage and their newfound ally Gigan take the long route there, leading the recently freed demon-dogs back to their home. Domas and Hokuro, meanwhile, take the shortcut to the Underworld within the castle and are moving forward with their plans to destroy it.

Domas does battle with the Order of the Underworld and with King Desha himself, who reveals significant information about his ultimate goals.

Desha battles Domas in Ranking of Kings Episode 15

As one of King Bosse's Big Four, Domas is incredibly well-trained and possibly even comparable in absurd power and resiliency to Dorshe. The Order of the Underworld has been built up as one of the most powerful armies in Ranking of Kings, but Domas can take down its ordinary soldiers with ease. Desha, the second highest-ranked king in the land, is a different matter. If anyone could actually destroy Domas, it would be Desha -- though the Underworld King makes it clear he doesn't want to do that.

The big fight between Domas and Desha is a giant tease, befitting the latter's comical personality. Wielding a heavy spiked weapon, Desha slowly approaches the swordmaster walking up the stairs with his big ominous grin. Domas's inner monologue delves heavily into considering how he could take down this powerful opponent strategically. Just as he is prepared to attack, Desha swings his weapon but doesn't hit Domas -- instead, the king just kicks his enemy in the crotch.

Prince Bojji upset in Ranking of Kings anime

Bojji and friends arrive on the scene in the aftermath of this crotch kick, and the prince's reaction to seeing his former teacher-turned-attempted murderer is the most upsetting Episode 15 gets. Even this moment of trauma, however, is followed up with some comedy. In an attempt to apologize to his pupil, Domas punishes himself by leaping head-first down from the high staircase, which doesn't even leave a scratch. He's too powerful to hurt himself. This moment seems to confirm that the Big Four are functionally immortal.

Not that Desha was ever trying to kill any of the Big Four. Early on in Episode 15, he makes it clear there's only one person he has any intent to kill. Given his stated goal of fighting King Bosse one-on-one, it initially seemed possible that Bosse was his mortal target, but the episode ends with the big reveal that Desha's true target is actually Miranjo. With all of the build-up surrounding both Miranjo's evil influence and her possibly sympathetic background, Ranking of Kings will hopefully start revealing more of her story soon.

New episodes of Ranking of Kings premiere Thursdays on Funimation and Crunchyroll.
