WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Chapter 66 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, “Do-or-Die,” by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.
In the Boruto manga, Eida has proved to be quite a trump card for Code as he's sought to fulfill the last will and testament of Isshiki Ōtsutsuki. The cyborg has a God's eye, allowing her to see all of history up to the point she was created and also being able to predict the future, so she's a dangerous asset. However, it's now been revealed this omnipotent vision is limited, which could throw off Code's ultimate plan.
In previous chapters of Boruto, Eida's precognition allowed Code to best Kawaki and Boruto when he lured them out to the Konoha forest. Code has loved using it because, along with Isshiki's White Karma mark and access to a vast amount of alien power, he's become a weapon not even Naruto could counter.
But Eida's ability has more restrictions than first assumed, as seen here in Chapter 66 when she couldn't tell Kawaki had a new Karma that would grant him Isshiki's full power. Not only is he stronger than Code and far more invulnerable, but he has free will -- something not even Isshiki could have envisaged.
This made Kawaki the ultimate shinobi, which has Code stumped and blindsided. Eida's even more confused because she couldn't even scour the timeline to see when Amado implemented the mark, nor was she able to predict Kawaki activating it after seeing Boruto losing his essence due to Momoshiki's possession.
It seems like Eida can't predict spur-of-the-moment choices or scientific processes connected to the Otsutsuki clan. This would make sense, as Isshiki wouldn't have wanted Amado to make Eida this knowledgable -- she might have gleaned or predicted secrets that would have allowed people inside Kara to turn on the terrorist leader.
As such, with Kawaki this powerful, he could kill Code and prevent him from using the Ten Tails to create the God Tree. Thus, Isshiki's dream of Code absorbing the chakra fruit and razing the planet won't see the light of day, making Code's life devoid of purpose. To top it off, Kawaki has left Boruto near-death, so Code may end up short of Ōtsutsuki sacrifices to feed the Ten Tails and kickstart the project.
A further bombshell to Code's scheming is that if Boruto does live and Momoshiki fully assumes control, Code and Eida won't be able to gauge his actions so he could, in turn, kill Code and bring the tree to life. Last but not least, seeing as the Karma mark is such a hindrance, Code and Eida won't know what improvements Amado is making -- nor who else he could give copies to in the Hidden Leaf.
Eida's sight beyond sight had given Code the advantage he desperately needed in Boruto, but he's gone back to square one now. The rising problem has left a futile Eida wondering how to prove valuable again after Amado used them to get Kawaki to transcend to a greater destiny than even Isshiki intended.
