An upcoming exhibition in Kanagawa, Japan will see the characters of Attack on Titan dressed in very different garb.
The event, which will be held at the Marui City Yokohama shopping mall from Jan. 28 to Feb. 13, will showcase images of fan-favorite characters like Levi, Armin, Eren and Mikasa in the traditional clothing of Kabuki theater, according to Comic Natalie. The artwork will be available for purchase. The exhibition will host a panel featuring veteran Kabuki actor Ainosuke Kataoka and Yuki Kaji, the voice behind the anime's protagonist, Eren Jaeger. More details about the show are forthcoming.
This art exhibition is just one of several new developments that Attack on Titan fans have to look forward to.The second part of Attack on Titan: The Final Season began its run earlier this month. Anticipation for the first episode of the season was so high that the flood of viewers during the premiere actually caused Crunchyroll to briefly crash. While service was quickly restored, it took much longer for the debut episode, "Judgement," to reappear on the streaming website.
MAPPA, the animation studio behind Attack on Titan: The Final Season, spotlighted the character of Yelena and uploaded two images of her on Twitter. One showcased art of the character created by Dae-Yeol Park, one of the episode directors for the anime, and the other was a recreation of Yelena's infamous 'staring face' from Hajime Isayama's original manga. The show's producers have also released the anime's latest opening and closing themes, "The Rumbling" by SiM and "Akuma no Ko" ("A Child of Evil") by Ai Higuchi, online, and Funimation announced a limited-edition Blu-ray release of Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 1, which will be brimming with bonus content.
Isayama's manga series was published in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from September 2009 to April 2021, producing 34 volumes worth of story. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans hide from giant monsters known as Titans in walled cities, Attack on Titan follows the journey of Eren, who vows to exterminate the monstrosities after they destroy his hometown and one of them eats his mother.
The anime adaptation by Wit Studio (Rankings of Kings, Great Pretender) premiered in April 2013. In July 2019, the fourth and final season was announced, and in May 2020, it was confirmed that animation studio MAPPA was going to be in charge of the production for the anime's conclusion.
Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2 is currently airing on Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu.
