New Spy x Family anime art has been revealed through new merchandise from Toho Animation.
The premiere of the anime adaptation of Tatsuya Endo's popular espionage-themed comedy is still a few months away but that isn't stopping distributor Toho Animation from releasing new merchandise based on the series. As reported by Mantan Web, the Toho Animation online shop has listed numerous new collectibles based on the anime, including can badges, clear files, acrylic stand figures and towels. Notably, several pieces of the new merchandise feature previously unreleased art of the Forger family. The new art features the family cleaning, as Loid mops, Yor dusts and Anya brings her adopted father a bucket of water. Additionally, customers can also order framed prints of the series' previously revealed poster images as well.
The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Spy x Family is currently scheduled to premiere sometime in April 2022. The series is being produced as co-production between Wit Studio, the animation house behind the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and several other acclaimed anime series, such as Ranking of Kings and Vivy: Fluorite Eyes, and CloverWorks, the studio that created Wonder Egg Priority and one of the stand-outs of the current winter 2022 anime season, My Dress-Up Darling. The series will be directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, who previously directed Le Chevalier D'eon and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.
A new trailer for the series was shown at the latest Jump Festa. The trailer also revealed more of the cast of the new show; the anime will star voice actor Takuya Eguchi, who is known for his roles in Haikyuu!! and My Love Story, as the series' main character, a spy who takes on the alias of "Loid Forger" in his latest mission. Saori Hayami will portray Yor Forger, Loid's new wife. Hayami is best known for playing Yumeko Jibami in the popular Kakegurui anime. Loid and Yor's adopted daughter, Anya, will be played Atsumi Tanezaki, who previously starred in Mob Psycho 100 and The Ancient Magus' Bride.
Spy x Family centers on a world renowned spy who has never failed a mission and is only known by his codename, "Twilight." Twilight's latest objective requires him to pretend to be a family man in order to get close to his newest target, so he assumes a new identity, adopts a daughter and quickly enters in a marriage with a woman he barely knows. Unbeknownst to the spy, however, his new family also has secrets of their own: his new wife is actually one of the world's deadliest assassins, and his daughter is an escaped government experiment with psychic powers.
Tatsuya Endo's original manga is available in English from VIZ Media. Crunchyroll has announced that the anime series will be featured on its streaming service once it premieres.
