MegaHouse opened preorders for its new PVC figure of beloved Naruto antagonist-turned-hero Itachi Uchiha in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the popular anime series.
Standing at around 15 inches tall, the figure depicts Itachi in his iconic Akatsuki getup showcasing his immense power as he casually stands in the palm of his famous Susanoo. Red LED lights are embedded into the base of the figure, casting a powerful glow when turned on to reflect the missing-nin's overwhelming and impressive chakra.
The statue falls under MegaHouse's "Precious G.E.M." series, which includes a line-up of high quality figures depicting characters from shonen juggernauts such as Fullmetal Alchemist and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Itachi's figure is the third statue featuring a Naruto character to join the series, with two figures of Kurama being previously released. The statue's colored prototype was unveiled at Jump Festa 2022, along with a new Sakura Haruno figure that falls under MegaHouse's "NARUTO Gals" line.
With its source material being the fourth best-selling manga series in history, it is no surprise that Naruto has remained one of the most popular anime series in history. The story centers around Naruto Uzumaki, a gutsy young outcast determined to earn the recognition of his ninja village by becoming its Hokage, or leader. Joining Naruto on his journey are classmates Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha and sensei Kakashi Hatake, who altogether make up the members of Team 7. Itachi is the driving force behind many of his younger brother Sasuke's actions throughout the series, as the younger ninja has made it his life's mission to exact revenge on Itachi for the slaughter of the Uchiha clan. The original anime series will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2022, and has teased that there will be new announcements, merchandise and events throughout the year to mark the occasion.
Although the original anime's main storyline wrapped up in March 2017, Naruto's immense popularity has spawned an on-going sequel series called Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, which largely follows Naruto's son, Boruto Uzumaki, as he navigates young ninja life and tries to find his place in the world.
MegaHouse's new Itachi statue is available for preorder directly through the company's website as well as other specialty toy and figure retailers. It is set to be released on Aug. 22.
