A post credits teaser at the end of Episode 12 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean provides a preview of what Jolene and her friends will have to deal with in the series' next batch of episodes.
SPOILERS FOR JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE: STONE OCEAN FOLLOW:
The series' introductory run of episodes ends with the introduction of a new character, Sports Maximus, a villainous Stand user who has a connection to one of Jolene's allies, Ermes Costello. Whitesnake (also known as Pale Snake in some localizations,) the Stand of the arc's main antagonist, Enrico Pucci, hands Maximus one of Dio's bones. Pucci's connection to Dio was revealed earlier in the episode, and fans who have already read Hirohiko Araki's manga already know what Pucci is planning, and how Sports Maximus plays into the events that are unfolding at the Green Dolphin Street prison.
The long-awaited anime adaptation of the Stone Ocean arc debuted exclusively on Netflix on Dec. 1. Netflix will apparently release new episodes of the show in batches, with the currently available 12 episodes comprising the first group. Netflix has not confirmed if further batches of the show will also contain 12 episodes, nor has it announced a release date for the series' next group of episodes. This release cycle is different from Netflix's usual method of broadcasting anime: in the past, the streaming giant has waited for entire seasons of an anime to air in Japan before it added the series in one binge-able release to its service, a practice that was dubbed by anime fans as "Netflix Jail." The company seems to be retiring that method of release, as lately it has been experimenting with weekly releases for several of its other new series, including the slice-of-life anime Komi Can't Communicate.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's Stone Ocean arc is set ten years after the events of the Golden Wind chapter of the series. The new season is an adaptation of the manga's sixth part and centers on Jolene Cujoh, the daughter of Stardust Crusaders' protagonist, Jotaro Kujo. Jolene is sent to prison after being framed for a deadly drunk driving accident. After a visit from her father, she learns about her abilities as a Stand user and is drawn into her family's generations long conflict with Dio and his followers.
The highly stylized and meme-able franchise originally premiered in 1987. Araki's multi-part epic is one of the best-selling manga series of all time, with over 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. VIZ Media localizes and distributes the manga in North America.
