While the last few chapters have followed Goku and Vegeta's battle against Granolah, the two groups were actually manipulated into fighting each other by the villainous Heeters. So as that brawl has been going on, the Heeters have been enacting their plan to become one of the dominant forces in the universe by getting Planet Cereal's Dragon Balls and using them to make a wish. Now, in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 78, the Heeters have made their wish -- and it results in a massive transformation for Gas.
At the start of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 78, the Heeters finish gathering together the Dragon Balls, and Elec wishes to make Gas the most powerful fighter in the universe, essentially using the same wish as Granolah earlier in the manga. This results in a change to him physically. While before Gas was shown as somewhat small, more like a child than an adult, he grows huge after the wish, towering over the other Heeters. From there, Gas quickly proves that he is, in fact, the most powerful fighter in the universe. He makes short work of Goku and Granolah, using some neat energy attacks -- like encasing Goku's limbs in cubes -- against them.
Realizing that they're outmatched, Goku asks Vegeta to go and get their one remaining Senzu Bean and to take it so that he'll be able to use Ultra Ego against Gas. However, Vegeta has other plans. After getting the Senzu Bean, he instead goes to a wounded Granolah, insisting that the last Cerealian recover his strength. Dragon Ball Super Chapter 78 ends before Granolah actually eats the Senzu Beans.
There's a huge question as to just whether Gas has just become unbeatable. As Granolah proved, wishing to become the strongest fighter in the universe does work. Macki also notes that, if Gas wished for that sort of power after Granolah, he must be stronger than the last Cerealian. However, there may be a trick to what's going on here. Part of the deal Granolah struck with Toronbo, the Cerealian dragon, was that he'd give up much of his remaining life in exchange for that sort of power. Toronbo can only make someone as powerful as their potential allows, and the costs of doing so are great. If that holds true, then Gas's remaining life may be even shorter than Granolah's, which could pose a problem, especially depending on just how old the Heeter really is.
Another factor influencing Granolah and Gas's upcoming brawl is ability. During his battle against Goku and Vegeta, Granolah became stronger, as he learned how to use his powers better. Simply gaining power doesn't necessarily make one a better warrior. Instead, there's a lot to be said for tactics and knowing how to use that power. Although Gas was already said to be quite formidable, he may not be at the same level as Granolah yet. As such, if Granolah does take Vegeta's Senzu Bean, he still stands a fighting chance against Gas.
