Ranking of Kings made its debut as part of Funimation's Fall 2021 anime lineup, and now, an English dub of the series is coming to the streaming service.
According to Funimation, the first episode of the English dub of Ranking of Kings hits the streaming service on Nov. 18. The cast includes many popular and experienced voice actors like Emily Fajardo (How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, Smile Down the Runway) as main character Bojji, SungWon Cho (gen:Lock, Red vs. Blue) as Kage, Justin Briner (Fire Force, Darling in the Franxx) as Daida and Luci Christian (The Demon Girl Next Door, Fruits Basket) as Hiling.
Other members of the cast include Bryce Papenbrook (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!), Ben Phillips (Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside), Laila Berzins (Ascendance of a Bookworm, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable) and Kevin M. Connolly (Sword Art Online, Darker Than Black). In terms of the production team, Caitlin Glass is the ADR Director, James Baker is the Lead ADR Engineer and Jarrod Greene is the ADR Scriptwriter.
Ranking of Kings follows Bojji, a deaf prince and heir to the throne. While he lacks strength and isn't talented with a sword, he has high hopes for his future and sets off on an adventure to become the greatest king the world has ever seen. The original, ongoing manga series of the same name by Sōsuke Tōka was first published in May 2017 and so far, it has produced 11 volumes worth of content. Currently, there are more than 1.5 million copies in circulation.
The anime adaption was produced by Wit Studio (Vinland Saga, Great Pretender) and directed by Yōsuke Hatta (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Treasure Island, Death Parade). Taku Kishimoto (Haikyu!! To The Top, Moriarty the Patriot) oversaw the series composition, Atsuko Nozaki (The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky) designed the characters, Kiyoshi Hirose (The Heike Story, Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut) handled the editing and MAYUKO (Cells at Work!!) composed the music.
Other recent examples of anime series getting English dubs include The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat, Platinum End, SAKUGAN and the second season of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon. Moreover, the anime films Lupin III: Prison of the Past and Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet are also receiving English dubs.
The English subtitled version of Ranking of Kings is currently available to stream on Funimation.
