DBZ Gohan Fan Art Imagines Another Life for the Saiyan

Dragon Ball's Gohan famously opts out of continuing down the path of a warrior in favor of more scholarly pursuits, but new fan art shows what an older Gohan could've looked like if he continued his training and followed in Goku's footsteps.

Artist Seven Signs illustrated their interpretation of what Gohan could've looked like if the half-Saiyan warrior had slightly different priorities. This version of Gohan retains a version of the longer, more unkempt hairstyle he sported during his battle with Cell, and wears the iconic bright orange Turtle School gi, just like his dad did. The artist described their version of Gohan on Reddit, saying "Alternate Gohan I created is more of a Clark Kent/Superman kinda guy... Balances work and life, trains everyday after work, probably trains Videl and Pan... Doesn’t like hurting others but will DO what he has TO in order to keep the promise he made to his late father... I think this Gohan would be the MC that everyone would come to accept."

The artwork has been well received by Dragon Fall fans, some of whom where disappointed to see Gohan seek out a normal human life after he demonstrated the potential to be one of the series' strongest fighters. Seven Signs frequently posts fan art of Dragon Ball, as well as other popular shonen anime and manga series such as Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho and Berserk, on their Instagram page.

Fans who want to see the canon version of adult Gohan should check out Dragon Ball Super, the latest entry in Akira Toriyama's beloved martial arts epic. The on-going series is a direct continuation of Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga, taking place after the defeat of Majin Buu but before the Tenkaichi Budokai tournament that occurs ten years later. While Gohan has mostly given up on the way of the warrior, the young Saiyan still finds himself drawn into the various galaxy and dimension-spanning battles that his father and friends are constantly involved with.  Gohan should also make an appearance in the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the franchise's latest animated movie. The movie features an all-new CG animation style and will focus on Pan, Gohan's daughter, who is now several years older and has been receiving martial arts training from Piccolo, the Namekian warrior who was also Gohan's first marital arts mentor. Super Hero is scheduled to be released in Japan in 2022, with the producers promising to have an international release lined up as soon as possible afterwards.
