Jojo's Bizarre Adventure spinoff Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe will return for another run of episodes, and the live-action TV series has revealed new details about the adventures the Stand-wielding author will get into this time.
Japanese broadcaster NHK revealed new episode synopses for the show's upcoming return. The live-action Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe premiered in Japan last year with a three-part miniseries and will soon broadcast an additional three episodes. The show is an adaptation of the multiple Rohan Kishibe manga specials, which were written and drawn by series creator Hirohiko Araki. The series is directed by Kazutaka Watanabe and is written by Yasuko Kobayashi, who also worked on David Production's anime adaptation of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Kishibe is portrayed by actor Issei Takahashi, who anime fans may recognize from his appearances in the live-action adaptations of Ikebukuro West Gate Park and March Comes in Like a Lion.The new episodes of the series will air on the NHK General network on three consecutive nights, from Dec. 27 - 29. An international release for the series has not been announced at this time.
The first episode of the new season will see Kishibe, a manga author and Stand user who originally appeared as an antagonist in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's fourth arc, engaging in a running contest with a young male model who has suddenly become addicted to exercise. The second episode will tell the story of a strange man who refuses to show anyone his back. After the man visits the author's home, Kishibe's curiosity is piqued and he formulates a complex plan to discover what the man is hiding on his backside. In the third episode, Kishibe goes broke after he spends all of his money buying up land in a rural Japanese village, which he believes will be a good inspiration for his stories. When the author visits the village, he becomes embroiled in a mystery surrounding the area's richest resident, an heiress to a prestigious family.
Rohan Kishibe is just one of the many characters who have appeared in Hirohiko Araki's hyper-stylized epic, which was first published in 1987. The series tells the story of the Joestar family and their cross-generational conflict with the being known as Dio. The series is split into 8 parts, each focusing on a different era in time and a new member of the Joestar lineage, with a 9th part set to debut sometime soon. The anime adaptation will soon begin its Stone Ocean season, which adapts the sixth part of the on-going series and will stream exclusively through Netflix. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is one of the most popular manga franchises ever, with a circulation of over 100 million copies worldwide.
