My Hero Academia Reveals The Extent of All For One’s Control

The latest chapter of My Hero Academia illustrates how powerful Shigaraki has become, and how little of his original will remains.

SPOILERS FOR MY HERO ACADEMIA CHAPTER 330 FOLLOW:

The new chapter sees All For One's plan to boost Shigaraki's power and take over the young villain's mind and body almost reach its completion. During Shigaraki's battle with the United State's top pro hero, the literal rule-bending Star and Stripe, All For One marvels at how quickly Shigaraki's body has adapted to Dr. Garaki's torturous power-enhancing experiments, and the speed at which All For One has been able to subsume his new vessel. After tricking Star and Stripe into using her powers on a person that technically no longer exists, All For One praises Shigaraki, saying "As we originally planned, you were meant to become me entirely after two months of recuperation, but what a firecracker you are, Tomura. Your sheer hatred, your drive for destruction!" All For One notes that he can tell that Shigaraki isn't in favor of this complete fusion, but states that their meld has almost finished, estimating that it is currently about 97 or 98 percent complete.

The new chapter and the apparent completion of All For One's long-running plan to use Shigaraki as his new vessel all appear to be part of the build-up towards My Hero Academia's upcoming conclusion. In March of this year, Weekly Shonen Jump, the manga magazine where MHA is serialized, stated that the series had entered its "final act." Series creator Kohei Horikoshi has also stated that series, which began in 2014, has run for longer than he had anticipated and that he has already determined how the story will end.

While the manga may soon reach its end, the MHA anime still has plenty of material to adapt: the anime adaptation recently wrapped up its fifth season this September, but the show's producers have already confirmed that the series will continue with a sixth season that will adapt the manga's Paranormal Liberation War arc. The arc will see the world's pro-heroes and young students at U.A. High School go to war against the villains of the Meta-Liberation Army. The third and latest movie in the series, World Heroes' Mission, will begin its theatrical run in the United States and Canada on Oct. 29.

All five seasons of the My Hero Academia anime are available for streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation. The manga is localized into English and distributed internationally by VIZ Media.
