The anime adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara's popular historical manga Kingdom is getting a fourth season.
The new season will premiere as part of Funimation's Spring 2022 anime season. Set during the Warring States period of Chinese history, Kingdom follows Xin, a slave boy who dreams of becoming a great general, and Ying Zheng, the young Qin king who dreams of unifying the country under his command. While Season 3 ends with China in a period of peace, it is unlikely that peace will persist throughout Season 4.
Currently, it is unclear what animation studio will be handling the production for the fourth season of Kingdom. Studio Pierrot, the company behind anime mainstays like Naruto, Black Clover, Divine Gate, Tokyo Ghoul and Yu Yu Hakusho, handled the animation for Seasons 1 and 2; however, Studio Singpost (Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee Reverse, Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga), a subsidiary of Studio Pierrot, took over production duties for Season 3.
While anime fans will have to wait until next year to see what happens next in Kingdom's story, they can enjoy similar series like Yashahima: Princess Half-Demon - The Second Act and Banished From the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside that are debuting as part of Funimation's current lineup.
Season 4 of Kingdom is expected to be released sometime in April 2022.
