Tokusatsu company Tsubaraya has begun teasing the third installment in Studio Trigger's Gridman Universe.
Tsubaraya, the company that produced the classic tokusatsu (costumed hero) shows that SSSS. Gridman and SSSS. Dynazenon are based off of, released a new teaser image for the third installment in the series' shared universe on the official Dynazenon Twitter account. The image shows the feet of the two central heroes from both of the previous series, the cyber agent Gridman and the dragon-shaped giant robot Dynazenon. The teaser also states that the next entry in the franchise will be revealed this winter.

The previous show in the series, SSSS. Dynazenon, aired from April to June earlier this year, and ended with a similar teaser image that stated "GRIDMAN X DYNAZENON," suggesting that the two heroes from the different series would finally meet in the next installment.
Both SSSS. Gridman and SSSS. Dynazenon were produced by Studio Trigger, the animation company founded by ex-Gainax employees who previously worked on anime such as FLCL and Gurren Lagann. Both series have received widespread critical acclaim for the blending of traditional tokusatsu action with psychological themes concerning issues such as depression, alienation and suicide. Both Gridman and Dynazenon were directed by Akira Amemiya, who previously worked on Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia and Black Rock Shooter.
SSSS. Gridman was the anime reboot of the classic 1993 live-action tokusatsu series Gridman the Hyper Agent, which told the story of a boy who could merge with an inter-dimensional security agent named Gridman in order to battle monsters in both the real world and in the digital realm that exists within computers. Similar to the way the Super Sentai series was turned into Power Rangers for western audiences, Gridman the Hyper Agent was later adapted into DiC Entertainment's Superhuman Samurai Cyber Squad, which took the original series' costumed action scenes and edited them into a new story, which starred Money Plane's Matthew Lawrence.
The SSSS. Gridman anime featured the return of eponymous Gridman, but told an all-new story with new characters in a different world. The sequel series, SSSS. Dynazenon, took place in the same continuity as the first anime series but also featured a new cast, and instead of featuring the return of Gridman, it created new lore surrounding Dynazenon, the transforming dragon mech that was the central figure from another one of Tsubaraya's classic TV series.
Trigger's Gridman is available to stream on both Crunchyroll and Funimation, while SSSS. Dynazenon is exclusively available on the latter. The original Gridman the Hyper Agent is available on Blu-ray and DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment.
