BANDAI NAMCO has released a new trailer for Requiem of the Rose King, which gives viewers a preview of the upcoming anime series and reveals new casting details.
The trailer teases the show's dark, foreboding atmosphere and presents a first look at Requiem of the Rose King's characters. Mitsuki Saiga (Black Clover, B: The Beginning) voices Richard III, the third son of the Duke of York, and Hikaru Midorikawa (Platinum End, Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World) plays his rival Henry VI of House Lancaster. Hōchū Ōtsuka (Fena: Pirate Princess, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) is narrating the series.
Other veteran voice actors who have been confirmed as part of Requiem of the Rose King's cast include Sayaka Ohara (How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?, Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle), Kōhei Amasaki (Smile Down the Runway, The God of High School), Satoshi Hino (Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table, Jujutsu Kaisen) and Show Hayami (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Ascendance of a Bookworm).
The original manga series of the same name by Aya Kanno was first serialized in Akita Shoten's Monthly Princess in October 2013 and so far, it has produced 15 volumes worth of content. Set during the tumultuous Wars of the Roses (1455-1487), the story is loosely based on the Shakespearean plays Richard III and Henry VI, Part 3.
Animation studio J.C. Staff (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Children of the Whales) is producing Requiem of the Rose King with Kentarō Suzuki (Black Butler, The Betrayal Knows My Name) serving as director, Hiroki Uchida (The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest, A Certain Scientific Railgun T) overseeing the series composition, Chikara Hashizume (Edens Zero, DARLING in the FRANXX) designing the characters and Mayumi Tanahashi (Mary and The Witch's Flower, Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn) handling the color design.
Requiem of the Rose King was initially expected to premiere in October 2021; however, it is now scheduled for a January 2022 release. The series will have a half-year continuous run. Other titles that will debut in 2022 include World's End Harem, Love After World Domination, The Executioner and Her Way of Life, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, My Isekai Life, Girls' Frontline and the third seasons of Ascendance of a Bookworm and Dropkick On My Devil!
