The English dub of Demon Slayer's first season, as well as the Mugen Train movie, are now available for streaming through Crunchyroll.
Subtitled versions of all of 26 episodes in the first season of Demon Slayer were previously available on the anime streaming service, but this marks the debut of both the English dub and the movie on Crunchyroll. The English dub previously aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami and was also available for streaming via Netflix. The series stars Zach Aguilar as the series' protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, and Abby Trott as his little sister, Nezuko. The show also stars Aleks Le as the cowardly but powerful Zenitsu, Billy Kametz as Rui, Brianna Knickerbocker as Kanao Tsuyuri, and Johnny Young Bosch as Giiyu Tomioka. Spanish and Portuguese dubs for the series will also be available in Latin American regions.
Mugen Train originally premiered in Japan in 2020 and received a theatrical release in the United States and Canada in April, 2021. The movie picks up directly from the events of Season 1 and adapts the manga arc of the same name. The film was a massive commercial success, becoming the top-grossing R-rated animated movie of all time and the first non-Hollywood movie to top the yearly worldwide box office, as well as the top grossing anime movie of all time, shattering a record that was held by Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away for almost twenty years. The movie will be adapted into the first 7 episodes of the Demon Slayer's second season, the first episode of which will be an all-new story that shows how the Flame Hashira Rengoku made his way onto the titular train.
Mugen Train was previously streaming exclusively on Funimation's subscription service. Earlier this year, Japanese tech giant Sony, which already owned Funimation, purchased Crunchyroll from its previous parent company, Warner Media, for $1.1 billion USD.
Demon Slayer was created by Koyoharu Gotouge and was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2016. The series is now one of the most popular manga and anime franchises in the world, with over 150 million copies of the manga in circulation, which makes Demon Slayer the tenth best-selling manga series of all time. Season 2's new Entertainment District Arc will premiere on Dec. 5 with a special hour-long first episode. Season 2 of the anime will be streamed internationally by Funimation and Crunchyroll.
