A new, original anime about Napoleon's descendants is headed to Netflix.
Netflix Japan's official Twitter account announced that manga creator Shin Kibayashi is developing the original series Lady Napoleon for the streaming service. While there is currently no scheduled release date, Netflix did confirm that the show will run for 13 episodes and that Noriaki Akitaya, who previously directed Bakuman and worked as an episode director on Code Geass and the controversial Fate/Stay Night, will direct the upcoming anime. Studio Zero-G (Grand Blue, Tsugomomo, My Roommate Is a Cat) will produce the series.

Lady Napoleon is an action-fantasy anime that will follow Sophie, a descendent of Napoleon. Sophie is the leader of the Lady Napoleon organization, a group that is focused solely on world domination. To achieve that end, Sophie, her reliable butler named Butler and the martial arts expert Guy must set out on a quest to obtain Napoleon's three sacred treasures, which have long been lost to time.
Shin Kibayashi has written a great number of manga under various pseudonyms. Most famously, he and his sister Yuko Kibayashi collaborated under the pen name Tadashi Agi to write the cult classic Drops of God, which recently received a complete English release on comiXology. The series is also currently being adapted into a live-action TV series. A prolific writer, Kibayashi has written manga from a wide variety of genres, and his work includes the classic sports manga The Knight of the Area (under the pen name Hiroaki Igano), as well as the sci-fi series GetBackers, the psychological thriller Bloody Monday, the supernatural mystery series The Kindaichi Case Files and the comedy series Sherlock Bones.
