WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 15 of Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun!, "Magical Beasts Attack," now streaming on Crunchyroll.
As Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun! Season 2 continues, Iruma Suzuki and his demon classmates enjoy their visit to Walter Park, until the devious Six Fingers organization makes its move in Episode 15. Early into the attack, three eggs are hatched and massive demons rampage across the park, so Naberius Kalego's group faces one of the beasts in mortal combat.
The four students implore Kalego to aid them, but their tough teacher says they must face their opponent as a student hero team, leading to a scenario similar to many classic My Hero Academia battles.
As an instructor in Welcome to Demon School!, Kalego is completely unlike his counterpart Balam, who is one of Iruma's best friends. Kalego has fun watching his four charges confront the titanic opponent in a true test of mettle. Deep down, he means well and wants to see his students appreciate their own strength in mortal combat. However, the four boys panic at first, resenting Kalego for abandoning his adult responsibility to protect his students.
While the boys flee across the ruined park, Cain Camui uses his Friendship bloodline ability to understand the monster's vocalizations and thus predicts its movements. Garp Goemon deploys his Wind Blade ability to slice apart a flying boulder to protect his friends. Then, as they huddle up in cover, Andro Jazz notes that only Goemon has an offensive ability -- the other three are sense-based. However, just as My Hero Academia has proved on multiple occasions, even side characters can be incredible heroes who use teamwork and creativity to defeat much stronger foes. The demon students prepare to coordinate their bloodline gifts to fight back and impress their teacher.
The giant beast in Welcome to Demon School! is similar to the Nomu in MHA, and Jazz and his friends formulate a desperate but resourceful plan of attack. Lead goes first, using his Controller ability to see things from the monster's view and coordinate the team's efforts. Next, Camui uses Friendship to taunt the monster and get its attention, leaving it vulnerable for a few precious seconds. Goemon prepares his Wind Blade technique, and Jazz combines it with his Raffir spell to create the Flaming Wind Blade.
Goemon flings this combo attack at their massive opponent, striking the beast's shoulder. It does little damage, so the boys flee as the monster resumes its rampage, angrier than before. Kalego again tells them to rely only on themselves and their gifts, refusing to aid them unless absolutely necessary. Jazz and his friends have mixed feelings -- they have the resolve to get along without adults, but they are also outmatched. Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun! Season 2, Episode 15 leaves off on a cliffhanger. Jazz and his friends need to find their Plus Ultra moment soon, or they'll never make it to their second year at Babyls.
