VIZ Media has released a trailer for their upcoming release of horror master Junji Ito's latest work, Sensor.
The motion-comic style trailer features one of the monsters from Sensor, a deadly creature that appears human at a distance but attacks its prey with its hair. Sensor is the latest creation from Junji Ito, the author behind Uzumaki and Tomie. Ito first began writing and drawing manga as a hobby in 1984, when he was still working as a dental assistant. His first story was published in 1987 and he has since become one of the most celebrated manga and horror authors in the world. His works have been adapted into multiple movies and anime series, the latest of which is Uzumaki, which is being produced by Adult Swim and Ghost in the Shell animation studio Production IG, and is scheduled to premiere this fall.

Publisher VIZ Media describes the story of Sensor:
A woman walks alone at the foot of Mount Sengoku. A man appears, saying he’s been waiting for her, and invites her to a nearby village. Surprisingly, the village is covered in hairlike volcanic glass fibers, and all of it shines a bright gold. At night, when the villagers perform their custom of gazing up at the starry sky, countless unidentified flying objects come raining down on them—the opening act for the terror about to occur!
Sensor will be published under the VIZ Signature imprint and will be released on Aug. 17 for $19.99. VIZ has also published many of Ito's earlier works in English, including Gyo, Tomie, and Ito's Eisner Award-winning adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
