SK8 the Infinity has a brand-new anime project coming down the pipeline, not to mention a two-part stage play.
It was announced at the "SK8 Masquerade of Love" event today, June 4, that a brand-new SK8 the Infinity anime project is currently in the works. That being said, no further details regarding the new anime are available at this time.
However, it was also announced that a two-part stage play titled SK8 the Stage is on the way as well. Part one of SK8 the Stage is slated to debut this December, with part two expected to open the following month in January 2022.
Directed by Hiroko Utsumi and animated by the studio Bones (not to be confused with the Bones Brigade), SK8 the Infinity is an original anime series that premiered early this year. Set in Okinawa, the show follows a group of skateboarders who compete in secret, intense races under the cover of nightfall.
The original SK8 the Infinity anime ran for a total of 12 episodes from Jan. 10 to April 4, airing on television in Japan and streaming via Funimation, AnimeLab and Wakanim in other territories. A comedy-oriented spinoff manga titled SK8 Chill Out! by Toriyasu launched on Jan. 11. Meanwhile, a manga adaptation of the anime by Kazuto Kōjima launched on March 5.
