WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Record of Ragnarok, now streaming on Netflix.
In Netflix's Record of Ragnarok, Brunhilde has kept secrets regarding her plans to dethrone the gods. At first, it seems as if Zeus and his pantheon from various cultures would be impossible to defeat. However, Brunhilde is using her Valkyries to empower humanity's champions and give them a shot at victory in order to preserve Earth.
Still, it will take a lot, because Zeus has 13 lethal powerhouses on his team. With that said, Brunhilde could have another ace up her sleeve, with the Season 1 post-credits scene teasing a sinister betrayal.
It happens when the youngest of the 13 Valkyries, Göll, saunters around in the VIP hall of the Valhalla arena. She spots Brunhilde, the eldest and her leader, in a shady meeting with Hermes, Zeus' son and right-hand man. The violinist and showman have been advising Zeus throughout the season and, along with Hades, it seems they're incensed over Kojiro Sasaki, a legendary swordsman, slaying Zeus' older brother, Poseidon.
Although they pledged vengeance, Hermes looks pacified as he whispers something to Brunhilde, who's rather pensive. He then slips back into his chambers, bowing as if a deal has been struck or an alliance kept intact. Göll is shocked because she never thought she'd see her sister cozying up to someone she hates. It could be that Brunhilde is mining information, getting details on the order of Zeus' lineup after he shocked them all by going second and killing Adam.
Hermes could also be slipping her secrets on fighters' weaknesses. However, one has to wonder, why would he? It could be he's planning to take over the pantheon because Zeus might be deposed if they lose. The council has an air of democracy to it, so he could be betraying his father and getting gods to vote out Zeus. After all, Olympians do love a power struggle.
But Hermes may also be playing Brunhilde, leaking false information while extracting intelligence from her. If he can discover which Valkyries are bonding with which humans, it will allow them to develop a better strategy to prevent them from losing, as they did with Poseidon.
That dented their fragile egos, shocked their fans, inspired more human souls from heaven to cheer on their warriors, and made the gods realize they can die in these challenges. Ultimately, it's all about tactics, but what's for certain is Göll will want answers because she's already lost two sisters to Zeus and Thor. It's just unlike Brunhilde to be that secretive. But then again, she might be working a long con that requires total silence and alienation of her sisterhood.
