Horizon Zero Dawn: Liberation Debuts a Preview of Its First Issue

Titan Comics has debuted a preview of the first issue of Horizon Zero Dawn: Liberation, a comic series based on the popular PlayStation 4 game.

Per a press release, the series will take place during the events of the game and tell a new story in which game protagonist Aloy and her ally Erend hunt a killer with ties to the latter's past. The story will be written by Ben McCay, the narrative director for HZD, and Anne Toole, with artwork by Elmer Damasco.

Released in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn takes place in a post-apocalyptic America where tribes of warriors fight robotic facsimiles of prehistoric creatures. One of these warriors, the outcast Aloy, protects her world from the machines and other sinister forces that seek to do it harm. Among her allies is Erend, a former mercenary turned head of the royal guard. Erend became a fan favorite amongst players thanks to a subplot which saw him overcome his alcoholism, avenge the murder of his sister and become the leader he was capable of being.

Titan Comics' Horizon Zero Dawn: Liberation #1 will be released on July 28. Read the full preview below:
