The tabletop RPG set in the world of KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!! is coming to the west.
According to Anime News Network, the Yen Press Publishing Company has listed the English version of KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!! TRPG (Kono Subarashī Sekai ni Shukufuku o! TRPG) on its website for release this October. Yen Press had announced a Fall release window for the game last month, and the listing put the release date as Oct. 9. The company released an official synopsis for the tabletop role-playing game, which can be read below:
Live out the wildest fantasies in the world of KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! with the TRPG developed under Natsume Akatsuki's full oversight. Whether it's playing as a luckless reincarnation or pursuing a quest as an all powerful magician, a life of hilarious adventures awaits!
FarEast Amusement Research (also known as F.E.A.R.) adapted the series into tabletop form, hoping to capture Konosuba's balance of stakes and humor. Original series author Natsume Akatsuki is credited as the writer of the game's story while artwork has been provided by Kurone Mishima (of the Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor franchise).
Kono Subarashī Sekai ni Shukufuku o! TRPG released in Japan in March two years ago. F.E.A.R. collaborated with Kadokawa Future Publishing to release an advanced rulebook for the game earlier this spring. The latest update adds new variants for the RPG's classes, as well as incorporating Demon King-related characters into the game.
Akatsuki's Konosuba isekai light novel series ended with the seventeenth volume in May 2020, but the franchise continues to expand. The novels inspired two seasons of anime, with the first season premiering in January 2016, and the second season premiered in January 2017. A full-length feature film based on the series entitled KONOSUBA - God's Blessing on This Wonderful World– Legend of Crimson opened in Japan in August 2019. The film was screened in the United States in November 2019, courtesy of Crunchyroll and Fathom Events.
The series has seen two video games. Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! ~Kibō no Meikyū Tsudoi Shi Bōkensha-tachi Plus~ (Labyrinth of Hope and Gathering Adventurers Plus), a dungeon crawler with RPG elements was released for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on Aug. 27. The second game, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! Fantastic Days, was released in Japan for smartphones last February and features an original story. It is set to launch globally on iOS and Android in 2021. Another of Akatsuki's series, Combatants Will Be Dispatched!, recently received an English Dub courtesy of Funimation.
