The Seven Deadly Sins Trailer Reveals Movie Finale Release Date

One of the most popular anime franchises in the world is The Seven Deadly Sins, based on the manga series by Nakaba Suzuki, with a second anime film on the way.

The first teaser trailer for the movie, The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light, has been unveiled, confirming a premiere date for Japanese cinemas on July 2. The teaser only provides snippets of footage while hinting at an epic conclusion to Suzuki's bestselling fantasy story, though without providing an eventual international release date for the film.

The fourth and final season of The Seven Deadly Sins anime manga adaptation is currently on the air in Japan, with an international premiere expected later in 2021. Expected to premiere this past October, the Japanese premiere was pushed to January due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Suzuki's story ran from October 2012 to March 2020, collected in 41 volumes with over 30 million copies in circulation worldwide. Netflix holds international distribution rights to the English-language dub of the anime series, with the first three seasons among the most popular anime programs streamed on the digital platform. An anime film The Seven Deadly Sins: Prisoners of the Sky was released in 2018, featuring an original story written by Suzuki expanding on the franchise's fantasy world.

Directed by Takayuki Hamana, The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light premieres in Japan July 2. The fourth and final season of the anime series, The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgement is expected to premiere in North America later this year.
