Amelie Lens has delivered once again a mesmerizing mix at her BBC Radio 1 residency with wide variety of dark underground tunes. Amelie, who was announced as one of new additions for the BBC residencies back in late August 2020, has been impressing us all ever since.
The often-referred to ‘explosion’ with which the Antwerp native made her way into the global techno scene has been the result of a long-standing love affair with dance music, ignited by her first outing to Belgium’s Dour Festival at just 15 years old. Techno had Amelie at ‘hello’, and she spent the rest of her teenage years crossing Belgium by train to attend gigs, hypnotised by the new world that was opening up to her.

Amelie spoke about her modeling past in the interview with Belgian De Morgen magazine.

“When I was sixteen, I was in art school in Antwerp, where they imposed the choice between art or fashion education. I was absent too often, doubled, changed school and eventually decided to quit 2 years before graduating.
I worked hard for two years and when I was eighteen I enrolled for a course to get my degree after all. In two months time, I had to catch up on 2 years of school material. But It worked. I strive. When we had to do the Coopertest at school and I got an eight out of ten, I insisted I could do better and wanted to do that test again after school. I got a nine out of ten “, Amelie said.
