Towards the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, everything changed when Goku learned he was, in actuality, a member of an alien race known as the Saiyans. While Goku, together with Piccolo, was able to best the Saiyan hero's brother, Raditz, that villain's defeat soon led to Nappa and Vegeta coming to Earth, where they wreaked havoc. Eventually, Vegeta became one of the Z-Fighters' most important allies. However, what would have happened had Dragon Ball Super's version of Broly come to Earth instead?
For this hypothetical situation, we're going to have to go back to before the events of Dragon Ball, as depicted in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie. In that film, Broly was identified as a particularly powerful Saiyan and left Planet Vegeta with his father. However, Frieza soon destroyed the planet so as to prevent a Super Saiyan from taking him down in the future. In this alternate timeline, Frieza opts to recruit Broly into his army and still obliterates Planet Vegeta. At some point, Broly himself will fight and kill Vegeta, whose pride would not allow him to let Broly go unchallenged.

Dragon Ball Super was the most recent installment in the franchise, not counting the original net animation Super Dragon Ball Heroes. Although it's unclear just when -- or if -- the series will return, the Dragon Ball franchise is popular, so it's unlikely to stay gone for long. The manga currently expands on the ending of Dragon Ball Super, taking Goku and Vegeta into space to fight against the energy-absorbing Moro. However, it's unclear if when the anime returns it will actually pull from that plotline.
