Japan’s Jujutsu Kaisen Cafe Has a Truly Morbid Menu Item Fans Will Love

Why merely watch your favorite shows when you can eat them? Themed cafes are nothing new, with many popular shows getting their own themed eateries, be they permanent installations or temporary overlays of existing restaurants. So it was only a matter of time before manga and anime smash hit, Jujutsu Kaisen, got in on the action, and fans may be equally delighted and grossed-out, in particular, by a Japanese pop-up café's dedication to recreating the series' edible inciting incident.

Rather than just slapping thematic names on already existing dishes, the creators of the café's menu have gone out of their way to offer some truly-interesting themed menu options that will immerse you in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. If you're looking for savory dishes, you can get your hands on a sandwich themed around Kento Nanami. You can also get an adorable burger themed around Panda that comes with a white bun. There is also a visually striking black and white meal flavored with ginger and themed around fan-favorite character Megumi Fushiguro.

If you want something sweet, there are two tarts themed around Satoru Gojo. The first contains Zunda bean paste (a traditional favorite in the city of Sendai). The other is inspired by Gojo's battles with Jogo and features a Mont Blanc tart as its centerpiece. There is also a black sesame drink that comes complete with Panda-shaped cotton candy. Or, if you're not as adventurous, you can get a latte, complete with a finger-shaped cookie.

However, one item stands out. For ¥399 (excluding tax,) you can get one of Sakuna's fingers delivered to your table, where you can devour it, just like Yūji Itadori! It seems unlikely that this finger will make you home to evil and destructive Curses, but with 2020 being as it is, who knows. As you can see in the picture below, the team behind the café has worked hard to make something that really resembles the finger seen in the anime, from the dark red color to the sharp black nail.

Cursed finger from the Jujutsu Kaisen Cafe

This finger is on the takeout menu, just in case you don't want to be seen chowing down on a cursed finger in public. However, vegetarian Jujutsu Kaisen fans don't need to worry about missing out, as this finger is made out of Karintō rather than flesh. Karintō is a fried dough that is then traditionally placed into a bubbling pan of brown sugar syrup. This syrup bath makes it extra sweet and super moreish. It almost makes the death penalty worth it!

If you want to eat this finger, you'll have to act quickly as the café is a limited-time event. The location in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, is only open until December 13, and the café in Umeda, Osaka, will be shutting its doors on December 7. We could certainly see future collaborations between Jujutsu Kaisen and various food outlets happening, but who knows if this morbid treat will return next time.
