Jujutsu Kaisen Revives [SPOILER] as Cursed Spirits Challenge Gojou

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Episode 6 of Jujutsu Kaisen, "After Rain," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Itadori's revival in Jujutsu Kaisen's latest episode comes as little surprise, given his fledgling shonen hero status. But the circumstances surrounding it are more unexpected, considering the nature of the one who killed him: Sukuna -- the King of Curses living inside him. As Gojou eagerly welcomes his student back to the world of the living and takes him under his wing for some personal training, the self-proclaimed best Jujutsu Sorcerer prepares for a surprise run-in with a mysterious Cursed Spirit.

Itadori's return from death is the work of Sukuna, who explains that they're meeting within his Innate Domain. He then proposes a binding vow that, while it'd bring Itadori back, also has two conditions that favor the Curse. Sukuna's proposal includes granting him one minute of control when he says, "extend," and that Itadori will forget about the pact. Trying to further sweeten the deal, Sukuna even offers not to kill or injure anyone during that minute.

Itadori & Sukuna's Binding Vow

Though initially uninterested in giving in to Sukuna's requests, Itadori backs himself in a fight against the Curse to determine who sets his resurrection rules. The battle lasts only moments as Sukuna effortlessly slices Itadori's head in two. Though not admitting it, Sukuna's unexpected change of heart comes from Fushiguro's techniques piquing his interest during their earlier clash, which Fushiguro took note of too.

Before Itadori reawakens, Gojou discusses his dream for reshaping the Jujutsu world with Ijichi, a member of Jujutsu Tech's staff. Gojou reveals that his intent behind becoming a teacher is to raise strong, intelligent comrades hoping that, when the time comes, it could spawn a true revolution when he opposes their society's current leaders. Suddenly, as Ieiri -- Jujutsu Tech's resident doctor -- is about to perform Itadori's autopsy, the boy springs back to life.

Gojou Secretly Trains Itadori

Gojou decides to keep Itadori listed as dead to allow him to train for the Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event without the threat of being targeted again. Since Itadori isn't yet capable of learning specialized Cursed Techniques, Gojou focuses on having him infuse Cursed Energy into his naturally superior close-combat fighting style. The emotion control-based training includes a regiment of movie binging and a punch-happy Cursed doll that hits Itadori anytime he isn't channeling his energy into it.

Meanwhile, Getou and the Cursed Spirits continue their meeting to discuss removing Gojou from the picture, paving a less resistant path for their goal to eradicate humanity. Getou sees defeating Gojou in a fight as the more unnecessary and challenging route, recommending they instead seal him away.

Getou, Jougo & the Threat of the Cursed Spirits

Getou explains the prospect of using a unique item called the Prison Realm to capture Gojou, which entices a particularly excitable Cursed Spirit, Jougo. In a horrid moment, Jougo's excitement causes the volcano on his head to superheat the restaurant, igniting every human inside and burning them alive. Despite Getou's suggestion, the self-assured Jougo -- who Getou determines as having the same strength as 9 of Sukuna's fingers -- proposes he kills Gojou instead.

As Fushiguro and Kugisaki continue training with Maki, Inumaki and Panda, Gojou leaves Itadori to his solitary Cursed Energy exercises. While heading to a meeting with Principal Masamichi, Gojou senses an incoming Curse and tells Ijichi to get to safety. Moments later, Jougo crashes down from the sky, ready to challenge the revered Jujutsu Sorcerer.
