The casting for the movie is expected to carry over from the TV anime, with leading voice actors Matsuoka Yoshitsugu and Tomatsu Haruka already confirmed to reprise their roles as Kirito and Asuna.
The upcoming anime movie is an adaptation of the Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel series, a reboot of Sword Art Online's Aincrad arc. Penned by original author Kawahara Reki, Progressive sees Kirito taking on the identity of the Black Swordsman in previously untold tales.
Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night is slated to premiere in 2021.
